Ben Foster urges Jude Bellingham to pick Man Utd over Man City

Premier League football is back after the international break but there are still eyes on the Nations League and in particular Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder starred for England, particularly in their 3-3 draw with Germany, just another on a growing list of excellent performances this season. In the Bundesliga this season, Bellingham has completed 109 passes in the final third and 21 take-ons, more than any other player in the division for the latter.

For many Bellingham won’t have much longer in Germany, already being linked with a return to England and Liverpool were the favoured destination in the summer, with Jurgen Klopp’s side seriously struggling for depth in midfield.

But in recent weeks more Premier League clubs are being linked with a move for Bellingham, including Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City. Recently it was revealed that Man Utd had previously had talks with Bellingham and his parents, thinking they had secured the teenager’s signature, only for him to join Dortmund from Birmingham.

And former Man Utd goalkeeper Ben Foster believes the Red Devils are the best destination for Bellingham if he wants to avoid a Jack Grealish-esque patch.

“For me personally, I would love to see him go to Manchester United,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“I think he would thrive more at Manchester United, he’d have more responsibility and I think he would enjoy it there more.

“I think he would know he’s the main man. I worry that if he went to a club like Man City he might just sort of [end up] a little like Jack Grealish.

“He would just fade a little bit at Manchester City. So I would love him at Manchester United, I think he would smash it.”

Bellingham’s midfield partner for England Declan Rice also spoke highly of the Dortmund man, believing him to be the future of English football.

“I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as good as he is for 19. I look at a lot of 19-year-olds, whether it’s at a club, around the world, around the country. To have the whole package is a hard thing … and I feel like he’s got that,” Rice told the Mirror.

“Every time I play with Jude, we’re building that connection and I say to him: ‘You go and bomb on and do your attacking stuff and I’ll sit here and defend for you’. So we’re getting that good connection, he’s great to play with. Hopefully, he keeps flourishing. He’s the future of English football to come for the next 15 years.”
