Freiburg team news

Although Freiburg enjoyed more possession last week in Turin, they failed to test Wojciech Szczesny, with Streich’s men only mustering the single shot off target. One player who would have been disappointed with the output is Vincenzo Grifo, the German-born Italy international who is a diehard Inter Milan fan.

Raised in Pforzheim, southern Germany, Grifo is an eight-capped Italy international a grew up following the Nerazzurri. “I was a fan of Inter Milan as a child, it’s true,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport last week. “I still watch them regularly, but I’m much less of a ‘fanatic’ nowadays.”

The 29-year-old has picked up a further four caps in the last two years under Roberto Mancini and is the Bundesliga’s top-scoring Italian, surpassing former Bayern Munich marksman Luca Toni in October 2022. “Vincenzo is an extraordinary boy, a great player with important qualities,” Italy manager Mancini recently said.

But it’s not just Grifo’s attacking output that has caught the eye. Likened to set-piece specialist Hakan Calhanoglu by the Bundesliga’s official website, Grifo has been directly involved in more set-piece goals than any other Bundesliga player since 2016/17 (28 — seven goals, 21 assists).

Juventus team news

Allegri has several injury issues to contend with, not least Paul Pogba, who was recently fazed out and now nursing a muscle strain. Federico Chiesa is also struggling, as well as Bremer, Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonucci, with the former and the latter coming off injured against Sampdoria at the weekend.
