The problem is, not only are the Hammers void of any form, but they have a terrible home record against Tuesday’s opponents, Brighton, whom they’ve failed to beat in any of the eight league contests at the London Stadium, six of which they’ve lost. A loss on Tuesday would also see West Ham suffer 12 home defeats in a calendar year, the most in the club’s top-flight history.
Everton eye away day hat-trick
- Everton can win three consecutive league visits to the City Ground for the first time in their history.
Everton couldn’t find a breakthrough at Burnley, settling for a 0–0 draw, but they now travel to a stadium that’s proved rather fruitful in recent visits.
The Toffees have won four of their last five league visits to Nottingham Forest, including victories in the last two encounters.
All eyes on Semenyo
- Antoine Semenyo can become only the fourth player to score away at Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United in a single Premier League campaign.
Bournemouth are enduring a torrid nine-game winless run but with a player like Antoine Semenyo in their ranks – at least for now! – they will always pose an attacking threat, whoever the opponent.
Semenyo, who has been heavily linked with Manchester City, has scored nine goals this season, with only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago finding the net more often. Should he score again on Tuesday, he’ll become only the fourth player to find the back of the net away to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United in a single Premier League campaign after Kevin Nolan (2001/02), Gabriel Agbonlahor (2006/07), and Robin van Persie (2011/12).
Newcastle target record win
- Newcastle are bidding to win eight consecutive top-flight games against a single opponent for the first time in their history.
Newcastle continue to be plagued by inconsistency, while their form on the road has been particularly poor, with just one win from nine games on their travels this term.
The Toon will hope their luck changes when they travel to Burnley, who themselves are 19th and without a win in nine games.
If Newcastle come away with the spoils, it will be the first time that they have won eight consecutive top-flight games against a single opponent in their history.
In the process, Eddie Howe will become the first former Clarets boss to win three away in a row at Turf Moor.
Another unwanted record looms for Wolves
- Another Wolves defeat would equal the most losses suffered by a club in a calendar year in the competition (26).
Wolves came away from Old Trafford with a 1-0 win last season. How they would love a repeat result this time around, having failed to win any of their 18 games so far this term.
Should Wolves, who are on a 10 game losing streak, lose again on Tuesday they will equal the Premier League record for most defeats in a calendar year, drawing level with Ipswich Town’s tally of 26 set in 1994.
Dozen it get any better for Villa?
- Aston Villa can set club history by claiming their 12th straight win across all competitions.
Arsenal and Aston Villa clash at the Emirates in the most eagerly anticipated match of the gameweek.
Arsenal sit top of the Premier League, but Aston Villa are right on their heels, just three points back in third and riding an extraordinary wave of an 11-game winning streak across all competitions.
Victory would be historic for Unai Emery’s side. A 12th straight win would set a new club record, while also completing a league double over Arsenal for the third time in six seasons.
It would be another mini-landmark moment for Emery too, who would become the first former Arsenal manager to go three consecutive away league games without defeat after leaving the club.
Leeds chase unprecedented double
- Leeds can win consecutive league games at Anfield for the first time in their history.
Two in-form teams clash at Anfield on New Year’s Day. Liverpool have turned a corner with four wins on the spin in all competitions, while a resurrected Leeds have gone five games unbeaten, which includes big wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace, plus a thrilling 3-3 draw against Liverpool at Elland Road.
Leeds claimed a superb 2-1 win in their last away league game against Liverpool in October 2022, meaning they now have the opportunity to win back-to-back games at Anfield for the first time in their history.

- Marco Silva can become the first manager in Premier League history to oversee six consecutive away clean sheets.
Fulham boss Marco Silva has an outstanding recent record away at Crystal Palace, going unbeaten in each of his last five Premier League visits (W2 D3) without conceding a single goal.
No manager has ever kept six consecutive away clean sheets against an opponent in Premier League history.
Meanwhile, Fulham can go five away games without conceding against a single opponent for the first time in their league history.
Can Haaland illuminate the Stadium of Light?
- If Erling Haaland scores at the Stadium of Light he will have scored at 23 of the 24 Premier League venues he’s played.
Manchester City have a remarkable record when it comes to the first match of the calendar year, having won in 18 of the last 19 seasons, including 13 in a row. However, that streak faces a stern test at the Stadium of Light, where Sunderland remain one of only two teams – alongside Arsenal – yet to lose a home league game this season.
After scoring back-to-back braces against Crystal Palace and West Ham, Erling Haaland fired a rare blank in the 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest. Tottenham had an absolutely stinking start to 2025, losing all four Premier League games.
Spurs, now managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, will aim to shake off the January Blues on New Year’s Day, but face a tough test against the in-form Bees, who moved up to 8th in the table following a fantastic 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
