Read on for our favourite statistics from Gameweek 9.
Stats you might have missed
Arsenal’s tough defence
- Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in each of their past three Premier League games, last keeping more in a row in 2021.
Arsenal have the best defence in the league this season, conceding just three goals in nine games. They’ve kept six clean sheets during that time, the most in the league.
Clean sheet number six came against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, which was also the Gunners’ third in a row.
Arsenal last kept more consecutive league clean sheets in the 2020-21 season, when they went four without conceding between December and January.
Liverpool’s London curse
- Liverpool have lost five consecutive Premier League games in London for the first time ever.
Liverpool’s poor run in the Premier League continued. They’ve now lost four in a row in the league, the joint-worst active losing streak in the Premier League right now.
The Reds have conceded at least two goals in all four of those defeats, to now sit seven points off top spot. And perhaps we should have seen the defeat coming.
Liverpool have now lost five consecutive Premier League games in London. It’s the first time they have ever gone on such a losing streak.
Mbeumo’s wonder year continues
- Bryan Mbeumo is one of just three players to be directly involved in 20+ Premier League goals in 2025.
Man Utd have won three league games in a row. They’re just two more consecutive victories away from one of the most-anticipated haircuts in history.
Victory number three game against Brighton and Hove Albion, with Bruan Mbeumo scoring twice. The Cameroonian has now been directly involved in eight goals in his last five Premier League starts against Brighton.
More significant, though, is the fact that Mbeumo has now been directly involved in 20 goals in the Premier League this season. Only Erling Haaland and Mo Salah join him in achieving that feat.
A monstrous display from Kevin Danso
- Kevin Danso made 18 clearances against Everton, the most by a Tottenham player in a Premier League game since 2016.
Tottenham Hotspur’s defenders were made to work hard for their victory and clean sheet over Everton. Kevin Danso was one of the busier men in the back line.
The Austrian centre-back made 19 clearances at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the most of any player in a single Premier League game this season.
It’s also the most by a Tottenham player in a single game since Jan Vertonghen made 21 against Burnley in December 2016.
Amadou Onana dominates the midfield
- Amadou Onana is the only midfielder to make four blocks in single Premier League game this season.
Amadou Onana was excellent for Aston Villa as they beat Manchester City. The Belgian domianted the base of Villa’s midfield, making them tough to beat.
He was everywhere, making three clearances, three tackles and winning six of his seven ground duels.
Onana also made four blocks, the most in a single game by any Premier League this season.

Sunderland’s comeback kings
- Sunderland have won seven points from losing positions in the Premier League this season.
Sunderland moved up to fourth in the Premier League this weekend with their 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Despite conceding early, Sunderland fans wouldn’t have been worried. They’ve seen their team come from behind before this season.
The Black Cats have won seven points from losing positions in the Premier League this season. No team has won more in the league, with Brighton also on seven.
A worry for Wolves
- Wolves are just the third side in English football history to not win any of their opening nine league games in back-to-back top-flight seasons.
Wolverhampton Wanderers looked to be a new team under Vitor Pereira when he took over midway through last season. But they’re back to where they were at this stage in 2024-25.
Wolves sit bottom of the table with three points from nine games, still waiting for their first league win of the season. And unfortunately it’s a mirror of last season.
Wolves are just the third team in English football history to not win any of their opening nine league games in back-to-back top-flight seasons. They join Bury in 1904-05 and 1905-06, and Sunderland in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Nuno’s sorry start
- Nuno Espirito Santo is the first West Ham manager since September 2018 to go winless in his first Premier Leauge games.
Nuno Espirito Santo is not having a good season. After his struggles at Nottingham Forest earlier in the campaign, the Portuguese manager took over at West Ham United.
And there were high hopes. But the struggles continue. Espirito Santo is winless in his first four Premier League games as West Ham manager, drawing one and then losing three in a row.
He’s the first Hammers manager to suffer such a streak since Manuel Pellegrini in September 2018.
Iwobi’s milestone
- Alex Iwobi is the first Nigerian player to reach 300 appearances in the Premier League.
Alex Iwobi made history at the weekend, despite Fulham’s defeat to Newcastle United. The former Arsenal and Everton winger was making his 300th appearance in the Premier League.
He’s the first Nigerian player to achieve the feat, and one of just five African players overall.
Iwobi joins Kolo Toure, Mo Salah, Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew in the exclusive club.
