Premier League predictions – Gameweek 5: Back Arsenal to dominate against Man City

The Premier League returns for gameweek 5, with fixtures taking place over Saturday and Sunday.

Arsenal against Manchester City takes centre stage on Sunday, with Newcastle making the long trip down to Bournemouth. On Saturday, the Merseyside derby kicks-off proceedings at 12:30pm, while Manchester United host Chelsea at 5:30pm.

Here are the fixtures for Gameweek 5 (September 20–21, 2025), along with our predictions for each game.

Liverpool vs Everton – Saturday 20 September, 12:30pm

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 28 home games against Everton in all competitions (W17 D10), winning each of their last four in a row since a 0-2 defeat in February 2021. Liverpool haven’t exactly been flawless in their early-season displays, with a defence that’s leaked roughly a goal per game. But the table tells a different story: four wins from four. Each victory has followed a familiar script, too — persistence right until the final whistle, with late goals proving decisive every time. It’s unlikely they can rely on such dramatic finishes indefinitely, yet this start underlines a key trait: Liverpool know how to grind out results when it matters most and have the look of champions.

Prediction Liverpool 2-0 Everton (7/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Brighton vs Spurs – Saturday 20 September, 3:00pm

Brighton have lost just one of their last 10 home Premier League matches (W6 D3), and are unbeaten in six at the Amex (W3 D3) since a 3,-0 defeat to Aston Villa in April. A high-scoring entertaining contest could be on the cards this weekend with both teams going home with a share of the spoils.

Prediction Brighton 2-2 Spurs (11/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Wolves vs Leeds – Saturday 20 September, 3:00pm

A low-scoring affair is expected, given that these sides have combined for just three goals in their eight games. Furthermore, Leeds’ Premier League games this season have seen fewer shots on target than any other side (19), with the Whites having the fewest (8) and facing the joint-third fewest attempts on target (11).

Prediction: Wolves 0-0 Leeds (12/1 with BOYLE Sports)

West Ham vs Crystal Palace – Saturday 20 September, 3:00pm

Crystal Palace have gone 16 games unbeaten, not experiencing a defeat since April, although there have been plenty of draws within that period. West Ham haven’t enjoyed a good start to the season, picking up just one win in their four games, so far. With three losses to their name, things will need to change quickly for Graham Potter and his side, but this represents a tough challenge against a resolute Crystal Palace side.

Prediction West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace (7/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Burnley vs Nottingham Forest – Saturday 20 September, 3:00pm

Both teams have had a sluggish start to the Premier League season but both have scored an average of a goal a game, conceding more (Burnley 1.75 goals conceded per game, Nottingham Forest 2.0 goals conceded per game). This should be an open game with both sides looking to improve on their lacklustre starts to the campaign. With Ange Postecoglou in charge we could see a rise in goals per game for Forest.

Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Nottingham Forest (8/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Man United vs Chelsea – Saturday 20 September, 5:30pm

Chelsea had to travel to Germany on Wednesday and have had less time to prepare. Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League home games against Chelsea (W5 D7) since a 0-1 defeat in May 2013. Indeed, Chelsea’s win rate of 18% at Old Trafford in the Premier League (6/33) is their lowest away to any side they have visited 10+ times in the competition.

Prediction: Man United vs Chelsea (11/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Fulham vs Brentford – Saturday 20 September, 8:00pm

Fulham are one of just two sides (along with Arsenal) yet to concede from open play in the Premier League this season, with their goals against coming from either corners (2) or penalties (2) so far. Meanwhile, two of the Cottagers’ three goals scored this term have come from set pieces. Brentford are winless in their last three away Premier League games (D1 L2), losing both of the last two, having won seven of their nine league games on the road beforehand (D1 L1).

Prediction Fulham 1-0 Brentford (8/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Bournemouth vs Newcastle – Sunday 21 September, 2:00pm

Bournemouth are flying high at the moment. After a 4-2 defeat at Liverpool on the opening night of the campaign, The Cherries have put together three consecutive victories, with wins over Spurs, Wolves and Brighton. Newcastle have had considerably less time to prepare for this game after their defeat to Barcelona on Thursday and the hosts could have the edge here.

Prediction Bournemouth 2-1 Newcastle (8/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Sunderland vs Aston Villa – Sunday 21 September, 2:00pm

Aston Villa may have failed to score in all four of their Premier League matches this season, but they can change that against newly promoted Sunderland. Unai Emery’s side have too much quality for this barren run to continue, and we can see them edging out Sunderland on Sunday.

Prediction: Sunderland 0-2 Aston Villa (9/1 with BOYLE Sports)

Arsenal vs Man City – Sunday 21 September, 4:30pm

Arsenal have won three of their four Premier League games so far this season and picked up a victory in their opening Champions League game earlier this week. They’ve conceded just one goal this season, keeping four clean sheets and scoring nine goals, with their new signings integrating well into the squad. Man City have lost two of their opening five games, losing points against both Tottenham and Brighton and were in action on Thursday, giving them less time to prepare for this game.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Man City
