When will Bundesliga return?
The Bundesliga is set to return to action on Saturday, May 16th. The last games were played on March 11th. We will be offering match previews and Bundesliga tips for fixtures when league returns to a full programme.
Why is Bundesliga 18 teams?
The Bundesliga comprises just 18 teams due to tradition. Although the other ‘big’ European leagues in England, Spain and Italy all comprise of 20 teams the German top tier has not followed suit. There are advantages such as a reduced fixture list for clubs battling in Europe and less fixture congestion around the winter break, but none have been specifically cited as the reason the league has fewer teams.
How do you get promoted to Bundesliga?
The top two teams are automatically promoted from 2. Bundesliga to the Bundesliga. The third-placed team in the 2. Bundesliga will play a two-legged playoff with the third-bottom team in the Bundesliga to determine whether the two teams switch leagues.
How is relegation settled in the Bundesliga?
Relegation is settled with the bottom 2 clubs in the Bundesliga automatically relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. The team in 16th place will then face the third team in the 2. Bundesliga in a two-legged playoff to determine whether the two teams switch leagues. The away goals rule is in effect for the two-legged playoff.
When do we post our Bundesliga tips & predictions?
We aim to post our Bundesliga tips and predictions around 48 hours before kickoff, allowing punters time to weigh up their options. Time periods can change depending on fixture congestion.
