Chelsea vs Leicester prediction, stats, tips & team news

Chelsea will be hoping to boost their top four hopes when they host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 9th March at 2pm.

The Blues currently sit fifth in the Premier League but are relying on their rivals dropping points. Leicester remain in the relegation zone and saw a manager sacked the last time they faced Chelsea.

Chelsea vs Leicester Odds

How both teams go into Chelsea vs Leicester

Chelsea are a difficult team to predict at the moment, but they’ll be looking to utilise a favourable fixture list to hold onto a top four spot. The Blues had gone on a run of three defeats from four, and moved up into the top five with a comfortable 4-0 win over Southampton at Stamford Bridge. Now it’s another relegation battler, and Chelsea will need all the points they can get. That’s because Chelsea’s next two games see them face Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur either side of the international break. And their final run-in is tough.

Leicester need things to click under Ruud van Nistelrooy quickly if they hope to stay in the Premier League. The Dutchman was brought in to replace Steve Cooper, who was sacked after Leicester’s defeat to Chelsea in November. And after four points from his first two games, Van Nistelrooy has suffered. Leicester have lost nine of their last 10 games, with the only exception a 1-2 away win against Tottenham. But they’ve lost their two matches since and sit five points from safety.

Chelsea team news

Benoit Badiashile is available for Chelsea having returned in midweek, but there’s a chance that Enzo Maresca won’t want to start the Frenchman in two successive games. Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Romeo Lavia and Marc Guiu are all out until after the international break.

Leicester team news

Abdul Fatawu is out for the season, but Ricardo Pereira could be in line to return if his training goes well.

Chelsea vs Leicester head-to-head

After losing back-to-back games in 2021, including the FA Cup final, Chelsea are unbeaten in their past seven matches against Leicester. The Blues have won six of these games, with the only draw coming at Stamford Bridge.
