Today’s League Two tips

Our analysts have crunched the numbers for all of today’s fixtures. Check the selections below for our most confident League Two tips and best bets. Do not miss out on today’s sharpest insight.

League Two
Dean Smith Dean Smith Northampton have kept three clean sheets in 10 games and their best afternoons have come in tight, low-scoring contests rather than shoot-outs. Colchester are the draw specialists of the division, banking six of their 12 points from stalemates, yet they have failed to win on the road all season and managed just six goals across six away trips. The Cobblers nudge the market at 21/20 at Sixfields, and with the visitors so light up front away from home, backing Northampton to come through without conceding makes plenty of sense at a shade over 2/1.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Goals have been scarce for Northampton Town, with just six in 10 League Two games, so it makes sense to follow the man who has scored a third of them. Joseph O’Brien-Whitmarsh is their top scorer with two goals, one in the 1-0 win over Newport County and another in the 1-1 draw at York City. He started Tuesday’s game against Tranmere Rovers in midfield. Colchester United have conceded 11 goals in six away games, and Ladbrokes go 9/2 on him scoring at any time.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Charlie McCann has quietly become Cheltenham’s most important attacker, top-scoring with seven goals in 11 appearances from an advanced midfield role. That record makes 10/3 for him to score anytime look a tempting price, especially against a Newport defence that has conceded 10 goals in six away games this term. Cheltenham have scored 13 at Whaddon Road already and their fixtures rarely stay quiet, with 43 goals flying in across their 12 matches. McCann is heavily involved around the box and arrives in the area as well as anyone at the club, so he is a logical pick to find the net here.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Cheltenham Town games have rarely been quiet. Nine of their 12 League Two matches have produced three or more goals, and both teams have scored in 10 of them, with Cheltenham conceding 22 to go with the 21 they have scored. Newport County have gone over 2.5 goals in half of their 12 games and have conceded 10 in six away matches. With Charlie McCann among the division’s top scorers and the Cheltenham defence so open, bet365’s 9/10 on at least three goals stands out.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Aaron Drinan has scored eight of Swindon Town’s 13 League Two goals, which makes him the division’s joint top scorer alongside Barnet’s Kabongo Tshimanga. He arrives in form, with a brace in Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Barnet and a goal in the 1-1 draw with Walsall before that. Bristol Rovers have conceded nine goals during their four-game losing run, including five in their last two home games. Ladbrokes’ 23/10 on Drinan scoring at any time is the best way to back Swindon’s main threat.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Swindon Town are unbeaten in the last five meetings with Bristol Rovers, winning three, and they have won on each of their last three visits to the Memorial Stadium, including a 3-0 win in December 2025. Rovers arrive on a four-game losing run, with home defeats by Barnet and Salford City in their last two games here. Swindon have won only one of six away games, so draw no bet hands back the stake if they only take a point. Sky Bet’s 3/1 is the bigger-price play.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Ollie Pearce has been York’s talisman this season, sharing top billing in their scoring charts with six goals in 11 games as the focal point of a side that has turned the LNER Community Stadium into a fortress. York are unbeaten at home, where they have scored 14 goals in six matches, and they face a Port Vale team that has been dreadful on the road, taking zero wins and scoring just twice in five away trips. With Vale likely to sit deep and soak up pressure, Pearce should get chances, and 29/20 for the striker to score anytime is a fair price given his form.
Best Odds Ladbrokes Logo 29/20 PLACE BET

Dean Smith Dean Smith Port Vale have struggled for goals on their travels, scoring just twice in five away games and failing to score in three of them. They have not scored more than once in any league game this season. York City are unbeaten at home, with four wins and two draws, and kept clean sheets in their 4-0 and 3-0 home wins. With Ollie Pearce leading the line, York should find a way through, and 10bet’s 51/20 on them winning without conceding is the bigger-price option.
Best Odds 51/20 PLACE BET

Dean Smith Dean Smith Rotherham sit 22nd but their goals have a single, reliable source. Paul Mullin has six of the club’s 14 league goals, has started 10 of 12 matches and leads the line every week, so he is the obvious route into this market. Shrewsbury have shipped 17 goals already and conceded 11 in their six away trips, hardly the profile of a defence that shuts strikers out. With Rotherham drawing four of six at home and leaning heavily on their talisman to deliver, Mullin to find the net at least once reads as the percentage call at a fair 9/5.
Best Odds Ladbrokes Logo 9/5 PLACE BET

Dean Smith Dean Smith Shrewsbury Town’s goals have started to flow through George Lloyd. He has four in League Two, all in their last six games, and has scored in three of his last four, including a penalty in the 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers and one in Tuesday’s 3-2 win at Crawley Town. Rotherham United have conceded 12 goals in six home games, so the visitors should get chances at the New York Stadium. Ladbrokes’ 3/1 makes him our bigger-price pick alongside Paul Mullin.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Rochdale’s attack runs through Dajaune Brown. The striker has four of the club’s 15 league goals, has started all 12 matches and racked up more than 1,000 minutes, so his involvement is guaranteed in a way few League Two forwards can match. Accrington arrive without an away win all season, having drawn three and lost three on the road, and have conceded nine goals in those six trips. We have swerved the fancied Emmanuel Dieseruvwe here, as he is still waiting on his first goal of the campaign, with Brown at 29/10 the smarter anytime play against a defence that travels so poorly.
Best Odds Ladbrokes Logo 29/10 PLACE BET

Dean Smith Dean Smith Josh Woods is Accrington Stanley’s top scorer with six League Two goals and arrives in form. He scored twice in the 3-1 win over Gillingham on Saturday and again in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at York City, and he has found the net in three of his last five games. Rochdale have conceded eight goals in six home matches, while Accrington have scored in nine of their 12 games. bet365’s 5/2 on Woods scoring at any time sits well alongside our Rochdale scorer pick.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Ronan Hale is Gillingham’s top scorer with five League Two goals and remains their most reliable route to goal. He scored twice in the 4-1 win at Rotherham United and again in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Port Vale, so he has three goals in his last three games. Two of his five have come from the penalty spot. Grimsby Town have conceded nine goals in six away games and are still without an away win. Ladbrokes’ 12/5 on Hale scoring at any time is the price we want.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Gillingham have been hard to beat at Priestfield, losing once in six home games, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just five goals. Grimsby Town have not won in five and are still waiting for a first away win, with four draws and two defeats on the road. They have scored seven away goals, but Gillingham’s home record suggests chances will be scarce. bet365’s 5/1 on Gillingham winning without conceding is our bigger-price play.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Exeter have turned St James Park into a fortress, conceding just once in six home games and keeping seven clean sheets across the campaign. Each of their three home wins has arrived without conceding, so the shut-out is baked into the way they win rather than being a happy accident. Fleetwood travel badly, with one win in six on the road and 11 goals shipped in the process, and they have failed to score twice already this season. At 7/2, Exeter to win to nil rewards a defensive profile among the best in League Two against an opponent who struggles to find the net on its travels.
Best Odds Bet365 Logo 7/2 PLACE BET
18+ | T&C’s Apply | begambleaware.org
Dean Smith Dean Smith Exeter City matches have been low on goals all season. Only one of their 12 League Two games has produced more than two goals, with just 14 scored in total, and they have conceded only once at home. Fleetwood Town’s games have stayed under 2.5 goals in eight of 12. Exeter have scored just eight goals themselves, so even a home win is likely to be narrow. bet365’s 4/5 on two goals or fewer fits the pattern of both sides’ seasons.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Crawley Town prop up League Two on five points from 10 games and are still without a home win, having shipped 11 goals in five outings at Broadfield. Tranmere Rovers arrive in far steadier shape, 11 places and 10 points above their hosts and fresh from a 1-0 success at Northampton Town. Rovers have also won the last two meetings between the pair, including a 2-0 at this ground last season. Draw No Bet hands us our stake back if the hosts dig out a point, and at a touch of odds-on it looks a sensible route into a Tranmere win.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Crawley Town have struggled, but Dylan Morgan has kept scoring. He has four of their 11 League Two goals and has found the net in three of his last five games, including the last two against Salford City and Shrewsbury Town. Crawley have scored in each of their last three, conceding plenty but always finding a goal of their own. Backing a Crawley scorer sits comfortably alongside our Tranmere pick, with Ladbrokes offering 27/10.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Chesterfield have scored 18 goals in 12 games and found the net in all but two outings, with much of that threat running through Lee Bonis. The striker has four goals from 11 starts and leads the line for a home side that has already banged in 11 at this ground. Crewe Alexandra travel with a tidy defensive record, yet they were beaten 2-0 at Exeter City last time out and have kept only four clean sheets all season. Against a Chesterfield front line in confident mood, Bonis at a shade over evens to find the net looks a fair starting point.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Crewe Alexandra’s best route to goal is Jordan Gibson. He is their top scorer with five League Two goals, four of them in his last five games, including a brace in the 3-2 win over Rochdale. Chesterfield have kept just two clean sheets all season and have conceded eight goals in six home games. Both teams have scored in eight of Chesterfield’s 12 matches, so Crewe should get chances. bet365’s 7/2 on Gibson scoring at any time adds a bigger price alongside Lee Bonis.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Barnet have scored in every single League Two game this season, racking up 23 goals in just 10, and Kabongo Tshimanga is the man who makes them tick. The striker already has eight goals from 10 starts and faces an Oldham Athletic defence that has been dreadful on the road, conceding 10 goals across six away games without a win to show for it. With Barnet strong at home bar one slip and the visitors leaking regularly, Tshimanga at 17/10 to add to his tally is one of the more dependable scorer prices on the entire card this weekend.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Barnet have scored in every League Two game this season, with 23 goals in 10, and they have scored three or more in five of those matches. Oldham Athletic have conceded two or more in four of their five away games, including a 3-0 defeat at Walsall on Tuesday. With Kabongo Tshimanga and Charlie Lakin sharing 14 goals between them, Barnet have the firepower to go past two again. Betfair Sportsbook’s 13/5 on Barnet scoring at least three is the bigger-price play.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Walsall are the only unbeaten side in League Two 11 games in, and their home form is the real eye-catcher: three wins and two draws at Bescot, with only two goals conceded. Six clean sheets across the campaign tell their own story about how hard they are to break down. Salford City arrive top and in red-hot form on six straight wins, but they have leaked nine goals in six away games and were far from watertight at the back on their travels. It is a bold shout against the leaders, yet Walsall grinding out a clean-sheet win at 6/1 holds real appeal.

Dean Smith Dean Smith Aaron Pressley has scored seven of Walsall’s 16 League Two goals, which puts him joint third in the division’s scoring charts. He scored twice in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic, one of them a penalty. Salford City have conceded nine goals in six away games, so he should get chances at Bescot. With Walsall needing goals to beat the leaders, bet365’s 11/4 on their top scorer finding the net is a natural partner for our win-to-nil pick.

The tool will show you the best odds across multiple bookmakers. You can toggle between decimal and fractional odds and search player-specific markets. There are betting options from League Two and other competitions too. In short, it’s a quick and easy way to make informed bets.

League Two 26/27 preview

The 2025/26 League Two season ended with Bromley completing a remarkable rise. They won the title and secured promotion to League One for the first time in their history. MK Dons and Cambridge United joined them in the automatic places after strong, consistent campaigns. Meanwhile, Notts County claimed the final promotion spot through the play-offs. At the bottom, Harrogate Town and Barrow were relegated out of the Football League. Both endured difficult seasons and struggled to keep pace with the division.

The arrival of York City and Rochdale adds intrigue to the 2026/27 campaign. Both clubs broke the 100-point barrier in the National League last season. Momentum alone makes them dangerous, and both should be competitive immediately despite the step up. Exeter City, Port Vale, Rotherham United and Northampton Town have also dropped into the division. As a result, the top end has unusual strength. All four will likely expect to challenge for promotion rather than simply stabilise.

Rotherham and Port Vale may begin among the favourites because of their resources and recent experience higher up the pyramid. Exeter should also remain competitive if they recover quickly from relegation. Northampton, despite struggling badly last year, still possess enough infrastructure and support to be dangerous at this level. Elsewhere, clubs such as Chesterfield, Gillingham and Swindon Town could all enter the play-off conversation. First, though, they need consistency over the course of the season.

At the bottom, survival may prove difficult for sides that started poorly last year. The overall standard of the division also appears to be improving. Several ambitious clubs are targeting promotion, and stronger squads are spread throughout the division. In short, League Two looks set to be one of the most competitive leagues in the EFL during 2026/27.

Our EFL experts

The Squawka brand is well-respected among football fans across the world, and with good reason! Our team of writers include some of the most knowledgeable and passionate experts on English football. Between them, they bring you weekly tips and previews with well-researched and hand-picked stats.

These experts are not just experienced and knowledgeable. They also have access to some of the best data and stats available. They can therefore combine their own knowledge with pure numbers to bring you their best bets game by game.

When do you release your League Two predictions?

As with all our tips, we aim to make our League Two predictions available at least 48 hours before kick-off. However, fixture congestion means this is not always possible, especially with 12 games each gameweek. You will still find tips here in the lead-up to kick-off.

We are blessed with an abundance of EFL expertise here at Squawka Bet. So don’t be fooled into thinking we only know the Premier League and Europe’s major leagues. We pride ourselves on our depth of knowledge of English football too, right down to League Two and beyond. In addition, our extensive access to the data helps us select the best bets for each round of fixtures.

Full time results

This remains the most popular way to bet on any football match. A Full Time Result bet is simply a bet on which team will win the game. You can also back the draw. This is sometimes known as a ‘Match Outcome’ bet or the ‘Win-Draw-Win’ market. However, the bet you’re placing remains the same.

Of course, you can now combine your result bet with a different bet for even longer odds and better value. For example, you can back a team to win and over 2.5 goals being scored in the match. You can also back the correct scoreline for some much longer odds.

Both teams to score

Much like Full Time Result bets, Both Teams to Score bets have become popular with multiple backers in recent years. The reason is that the bet can ride all the way until full-time. Indeed, a couple of last minute goals are never out of reach.

For the best League Two BTTS bets, check which teams are the highest-scoring and the highest-conceding in the division.

Sky Bet are not the sponsors of the Football League without good reason. They offer some of the best odds within these kinds of markets on League Two.

BTTS & Win

Of course, you can also combine a both teams to score bet with a full-time result bet. This works much like the Match Result and Over 2.5 goals combinations. It can offer value if both teams are high-scorers but one is in better form or looks stronger on paper. Odds on these bets tend to be quite long. Therefore, you may prefer to back them as singles or multiples with fewer selections.

BTTS in both halves

One to remember if both teams are really strong going forward but particularly leaky at the back. Both teams to score in both halves is pretty self-explanatory. You’re betting on both teams to find the net either side of the half-time whistle. This isn’t a bet you will find coming in on a regular basis. So save it for those games when you’re anticipating a real goal-glut.

Over 2.5 goals

Unders and Overs lines are worth knowing about for a whole raft of markets. However, the most often-used is the Under or Over 2.5 goals line. Again, it’s worth noting which high-scoring teams are facing off if you’re looking for an overs bet. In contrast, strong defensive sides are the ones to back on your Unders bets. Odds on these bets are usually relatively low, so it could be worth combining several for a League Two accumulator.

Anytime Goalscorer

Anytime goalscorer is an easier bet to research. It allows you to back a player to get on the scoresheet at any point of the match. Of course, the top scorers are always worth checking in this league. Check the division’s leading scorers before you back anyone in this market.

Bookings

It’s not necessarily true that the lower leagues are more combative than the leagues above. However, the stats do suggest that some teams are dirtier than others. You can back certain players to be carded. You can also back one team to pick up more booking points than their opponents. The total number of cards shown in the game is another option.

Corners taken

Corner bets have become a key component of match betting in recent years too. There are plenty of markets on which team will win the most corners. You can also bet on how many corners will be taken in the game.

Best bookmakers for League Two

There really are pros and cons to every single bookmaker when it comes to placing your bets. The English fourth tier isn’t the most popular league for bookmakers. Therefore, it’s worth checking what League Two markets are available with your bookmaker of choice. There are plenty of other things to consider too. Customer service, In Play odds and, of course, the value in their prices all matter.

You’ll find League Two odds and priceboosts with any bookmaker worth their salt these days. However, we’ve settled on the following five as our favourites for betting on these games:

Which other competitions do you offer tips for?

We aren’t just focused on English football, of course. We offer tips for every one of England’s four fully professional leagues. In addition, we cover odds on the Champions League, the Europa League and all major European leagues.

League Two Offers & Free Bets

Looking for some League Two betting offers? Not many bookmakers offer new customers the kind of enhanced odds you’d find on the Premier League every weekend. However, there are often other ways to get extra value on your bets. For example, look out for matchday price boosts and accumulator enhancements.

If it’s League Two free bets you’re after, it’s worth scouring the market for the best new customer offers. Many bookmakers will be keen to get new punters started with some free bets. Be sure to check the T&C’s, though, before you start building that League Two accumulator!

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) – League Two tips

When are your League Two tips released?

Our League Two tips are released approximately 48 hours before kickoff. This ensures our experts can analyse the latest team news and injury reports. They also track betting market movements for the most accurate predictions.

How many teams are promoted from League Two?

Four teams are promoted from League Two to League One each season. The top three teams gain automatic promotion. Meanwhile, the teams finishing fourth to seventh compete in the play offs for the final promotion spot.

What is the biggest factor in League Two predictions?

The biggest factor is consistency. The most reliable sides for League Two predictions maintain a strong Expected Goals xG differential over the long season. A high Passes Per Defensive Action PPDA also matters.

Why is the BTTS market so popular for League Two tips?

League Two serves up plenty of open, end to end football between evenly matched teams. As a result, both sides often find the net. That makes the Both Teams To Score BTTS market a consistent source of value.
