Poland vs Romania predictions and betting tips: goals at both ends in Warsaw

Two sides still chasing a first win of this Nations League campaign meet in Warsaw on Friday at 7.45pm, and our Poland vs Romania predictions explain why both defences look vulnerable and why a draw appeals at a big price.

Anthony Eadson’s Poland vs Romania predictions, best bets and score prediction are below.

Premium Tips

Our Premium Tips for Poland vs Romania back goals at both ends and a draw at the Stadion Narodowy.

Premium TipOddsWhy we’re backing it
Both teams to score17/20 (William Hill)Romania have conceded in each of their last eight matches in all competitions and let in six goals in their two Nations League games, losing 2-1 in Sweden and 4-2 at home to Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the other end, they have scored in each of their last four matches, against Georgia, Wales, Sweden and Bosnia, and both teams found the net in all four. Poland conceded three times in Sweden on Monday and are without injured goalkeeper Kamil Grabara. Both teams have also scored in four of Poland’s last six matches, including the 3-2 play-off final defeat to Sweden and the 2-2 draw with Nigeria.
Draw10/3 (BoyleSports)Poland are winless in five matches in all competitions, drawing two of them, 2-2 with Nigeria and 0-0 with Bosnia and Herzegovina, both at the Stadion Narodowy. Poland have not won any of their last seven Nations League matches, and they have scored only once in their opening two games of this campaign. Romania arrive with just one win in their last six matches, but they drew 1-1 in Georgia in June and have scored in four straight games. Neither side has taken a win from this Nations League campaign yet, and with so little between them the draw at 10/3 with BoyleSports looks worth backing.

How Poland go into the game

Jan Urban’s Poland are third in Group 4 with one point after a 0-0 home draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina and a 3-1 defeat in Sweden, where Sebastian Szymanski scored. They have gone five matches without a win in all competitions since beating Albania 2-1 in the World Cup play-off semi-final in March.

Their last Nations League win came in Scotland in September 2024, and they were relegated from League A last season. Jakub Kaminski has left the squad injured and goalkeeper Kamil Grabara is also out. Robert Lewandowski, 38, did not start in Sweden.

How Romania go into the game

Gheorghe Hagi’s Romania are bottom of the group without a point after a 2-1 defeat in Sweden and a 4-2 home loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They have lost their last three competitive matches, including the 1-0 World Cup play-off semi-final defeat in Turkey, and have conceded in eight straight games.

Hagi made wholesale changes for the Bosnia game, leaving out Ianis Hagi, Radu Dragusin, Andrei Ratiu, Dennis Man, Razvan Marin and Nicusor Bancu. Several are expected back in Warsaw, although Man is reported to be a doubt and Florinel Coman and Denis Dragus are ruled out. Romania have scored in each of their last four matches.

Nine years have passed since the sides last met, when Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick earned Poland a 3-1 World Cup qualifying win in Warsaw in June 2017. That followed a 3-0 Polish victory in Bucharest in November 2016, although Romania had won the two meetings before those, 1-0 in 2009 and 2-1 in 2002, both in Poland.

Poland vs Romania score prediction

Romania’s leaky defence should give the hosts chances, but Poland’s struggles in front of goal and their five-match winless run suggest this relegation battle could end all square. Score prediction: Poland 1-1 Romania.
