How does the Premier League Most Assists market work?
The Premier League Top Assist market rewards the player who records the most assists during the 2026-27 league season. Only Premier League assists count, with contributions in the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup excluded. Bookmakers settle the market using the official Premier League assist figures that determine the Playmaker of the Season award.
bet365 pays four places each-way at 1/4 odds. An each-way bet splits your stake into two equal parts, with one backing the outright winner and the other backing a top-four finish in the assist standings. If your selection finishes in the top four, bet365 settles the place part at a quarter of the advertised odds.
If two or more players finish level on assists, bookmakers apply dead-heat rules. They divide your stake equally between the tied players before settling the bet at the full odds. That rule often has a bigger impact in the assist market than the Golden Boot market because players frequently finish on similar totals.
Who won the Premier League Playmaker award last season?
Bruno Fernandes won it at a canter, and he did it in record-breaking style. His 21 assists in 2025/26 broke the Premier League single-season record of 20 shared by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20), and left him nine clear of any other player in the division.
The underlying numbers were even more lopsided. Fernandes created 136 chances, the only player to reach three figures and 58 more than second-placed Dominik Szoboszlai on 78. He topped the league for key passes in open play (98) and from set-pieces (38), and no one else in the division created more than 19 big chances against his 32.
Behind him, Rayan Cherki finished second on 12 assists, Jarrod Bowen third on 11 in a relegated West Ham side, and Erling Haaland fourth on eight. Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, James Garner and Harry Wilson shared fifth on seven apiece. That top-heavy shape is exactly why Fernandes is a short favourite and why bet365’s fourth place is so gettable for the outsiders.
The five players at the top of the market
Bruno Fernandes (9/4)
Fernandes turned 31 in September but has just produced the best creative season the Premier League has seen. He played 35 league games and clocked up 3,063 minutes as Michael Carrick’s side secured a third-place finish and a return to the Champions League. United also named him their Player of the Year after another outstanding campaign.
His future attracted plenty of speculation over the past 12 months. Saudi clubs showed interest last summer, while Galatasaray have been linked with a move this year. However, Manchester United have repeatedly insisted he is not for sale and now expect him to sign an improved contract.
The case for 9/4 is simple: he takes United’s corners and free-kicks, plays in an advanced role under Carrick, and now has Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Amad Diallo to aim at, all of whom hit double figures across last season. The case against is that 21 assists is a record for a reason — no one had managed it in 33 seasons — and repeating it is a big ask.
Rayan Cherki (7/2)
Cherki was the outstanding value story of last season. Signed from Lyon, he registered 12 assists and four goals in 33 Premier League appearances despite only 19 starts and 1,786 minutes, working out at 0.60 assists per 90 — barely behind Fernandes’s 0.62. He contributed 10 goals and 15 assists in 52 games in all competitions and was rewarded with a France squad place for the World Cup, even if he managed only 61 minutes off the bench.
The 22-year-old’s price is built on minutes. If Enzo Maresca gives him a settled starting role — and with Manchester City frustrated in their search for another winger, the right-sided spot may be his to take alongside Antoine Semenyo, Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku — an assist total in the high teens is well within range. That competition for places is also the risk: City have Foden, Doku, Semenyo, Bernardo Silva and Omar Marmoush all wanting the same shirts.
Bukayo Saka (10/1)
Saka remains Arsenal’s most natural creator and, at 24, is entering the peak of his career with the champions. But last season was another interrupted one: 31 league appearances and only 25 starts for seven goals and six assists in 2,226 minutes, with 63 key passes and 11 big chances created. Ranked against other Premier League attackers, that puts him in the 99th percentile for chances created — this is an availability question, not an ability one.
Arsenal won the title last season and Saka’s supply line into the box is as strong as it has been. The doubt is that Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Christos Tzolis all take creative and set-piece responsibility off him, so he needs 35-plus starts to threaten the top of the charts.
Cole Palmer (10/1)
This is the boldest price on the board. Palmer managed just one Premier League assist in 26 appearances last season, scoring 10 goals in 1,956 minutes in a Chelsea attack that never settled. He is 10/1 on reputation and on change: Xabi Alonso is now in charge, and the club have spent a British record £117m on Morgan Rogers, who scored 10 and assisted seven in 37 league games for Aston Villa.
Alonso has already said he has a “plan” to play Rogers alongside Palmer, and the 2023/24 version of Palmer — 22 goals and 13 assists — is the one bet365 are pricing up. There is a route back to those numbers if Alonso hands him the free role behind Joao Pedro, but one assist in a season is a lot of ground to make up.
Dominik Szoboszlai (12/1)
Szoboszlai finished second in the Premier League for chances created (78), scored six and assisted seven, and played 3,231 minutes across 36 games — more than any of the other four names above him in this market. He was arguably Liverpool’s best player in a disappointing title defence and signed a new contract until 2031 in July.
Two things could push him forward. Salah and Andy Robertson have left, taking away Liverpool’s most established creative outlets, and Andoni Iraola’s high-pressing, direct style should suit a player who won possession more than any other Liverpool player last season. If he ends up on set-piece duty with Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz finishing chances, 12/1 could look generous. The risk is that Iraola uses him deeper in a double pivot, where the assist numbers fall away.
