Haiti vs Scotland Bet Builder Tips
Lawrence Shankland – anytime goalscorer
Shankland arrives at his first World Cup carrying real momentum and with something to prove on the biggest stage. He scored a crucial goal in the final qualifier against Denmark as Scotland sealed their place at the tournament for the first time since 1998. It was a moment that demonstrated his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations. Scotland scored four goals in both of their warm-up matches heading into the tournament. Shankland has been central to the attacking system that Clarke has built around him. His qualities — intelligent movement, aerial threat and sharp finishing across both feet — suit him perfectly to breaking down Haiti’s compact defensive block. He’ll benefit from service from John McGinn, Scott McTominay and Ben Doak pulling wide.
Scotland to win and both teams to score
Scotland arrive on the back of convincing warm-up wins – 4-1 against Curacao and 4-0 against Bolivia. Confidence is high and the squad look in good form. The Tartan Army are clear favourites, and with the weight of their qualifying form and a more settled squad behind them, a win here is the most likely outcome. The BTTS element is equally well-supported. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is a genuine quality player, and Wilson Isidor recently switched allegiance to Haiti and brings Premier League experience. This means Haiti carry a real attacking threat on the counter even against superior opposition.
Haiti’s 4-4-2 centres on defensive compactness and quick transitions through Duckens Nazon and Isidor up front. Scotland’s defensive record at major tournaments – where they have never kept a clean sheet in the group stage – suggests Haiti will find a way through. A Scotland win with goals at both ends is the most complete outcome available.

Carlens Arcus to be booked
Arcus picked up nine yellow cards in his 55 appearances for Angers and collected three bookings in Haiti’s qualifying campaign. It’s a disciplinary pattern that marks him out as one of the most card-prone defenders at the entire World Cup. He added five yellow cards across 1,815 Ligue 1 minutes in 2025-26, committing 27 fouls across the season. That’s roughly one foul every 67 minutes. It’s an extraordinary rate of infringement that reflects a physical, aggressive defensive style that consistently earns referee attention.
Arcus will operate at right-back for Haiti, placing him in direct opposition to Scotland’s left flank. Andy Robertson will bomb forward relentlessly and John McGinn drifts inside to create overloads. Haiti will defend deep and Arcus will face repeated last-ditch interventions throughout the 90 minutes. Scotland will look to flood down this channel all evening, the chances of him avoiding a booking across 90 minutes look slim.
