Scotland got their 2026 World Cup campaign off to a great start with a 1-0 win over Haiti on Sunday morning (UK time).
A 29th-minute strike from John McGinn was enough to hand the Tartan Army all three points. However, though Scotland could have extended their lead, they were also given multiple scares by a Haiti side who proved they’re not here to make up the numbers.
Nevertheless, Scotland have finally won a World Cup match for the first time since 1990, and are now in a strong position to make the knockout rounds at least as a third-place team. As for Haiti, with group giants Brazil and Morocco to come, their chances of advancing already appear almost impossible.
