Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 29

Gameweek 29 had a significant air to it as Premier League leaders Arsenal carved out an important win on the south coast, while title-challengers Manchester City dropped points at home to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Manchester United all suffered defeats in the topsy-turvy race for the top four, West Ham collected a crucial win in the battle for survival, while Spurs hit a new nadir.

Read on for the best of the stats from the midweek action.

1-0 to the Arsenal

  • Arsenal have won 10 Premier League games by a one-goal margin this season; only in the 2003/04 Invincibles season have they ever had more one-goal victories at this stage of a season (12).

Arsenal surged seven points clear at the summit of the table after Bukayo Saka marked his 300th appearance with the decisive goal in a narrow 1-0 win away at Brighton.

It’s the tenth time in the league that the Gunners have won by a one-goal margin this season; only in the 2003/04 Invincibles season have they ever had more one-goal victories at this stage of a season (12).

Mikel Arteta’s side have also now won more away games without conceding (6) than any other team in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool’s injury-time trauma

  • Liverpool have lost a record five different Premier League games in a single season thanks to injury-time goals.

Wolves produced a stunning 2-1 victory at home to Liverpool as they secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Andre’s dramatic 94th-minute strike not only sealed the points but meant that a team in the relegation zone scored a 90th-minute winner against the reigning champions for the first time in Premier League history.

The deflected winner also condemned the Reds to a remarkable fifth injury-time defeat of the Premier League campaign – the most any club has ever suffered in a single season.

Super-sub Osula

  • Newcastle’s William Osula is the only substitute in Premier League history to score a 90th-minute winner against Manchester United.

10-man Newcastle made it four league home wins on the spin against Manchester United for the first time in 95 years after a superb late solo goal from substitute William Osula secured the spoils at St James’ Park.

Remarkably, it’s the first time in Premier League history that a substitute has scored a 90th-minute winner against the Red Devils!

Meanwhile, it was the first time that Michael Carrick had lost a match in charge of United as his 10-game unbeaten run across two spells came to an end.

Pedro on fire

  • Joao Pedro has scored the most Premier League goals (8) in 2026 following his hat-trick for Chelsea against Aston Villa.

Joao Pedro became the eighth Brazilian to net a Premier League hat-trick as Chelsea came from behind to thrash Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park to get their own Champions League hopes back on track while subsequently hindering their opponents’ own quest.

Pedro is the first player to be directly involved in 10 Premier League goals in 2026 and has scored more top-flight goals (8) than any other player so far this year.

Sunderl-end March misery

  • Sunderland won a Premier League match in the month of March for the first time in their last 18 attempts.

Sunderland snapped out of their recent slump and piled the pressure on relegation-threatened Leeds with a 1-0 victory at Elland Road.

The win moved the Black Cats onto 40 points after 29 games, which is the most points by a promoted side at this stage of a Premier League season since Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United (44) in 2019-20.

It also ended a nasty drought, with Sunderland winning a Premier League match in March for the first time in their last 18 attempts, a run stretching back to 2012.

Pickford’s double digits

  • Only David Raya (14) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (11) have more Premier League clean sheets this season than Everton’s Jordan Pickford (10).

8th-placed Everton ended their home rut with a 2-0 win against Burnley to keep the pressure on the teams above them, closing the gap on the top-five to five points.

England shot-stopper Jordan Pickford recorded his 10th clean sheet of the Premier League season as he kept alive his hopes of winning the Golden Glove. moving up to joint-3rd in the rankings, behind Arsenal’s David Raya (14) and Man City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma (11).

Teacher’s Pep

  • Bernardo Silva became the first ever outfield player to start 350 games under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City will be kicking themselves after they twice led against Nottingham Forest in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad, which saw them lose ground to title rivals Arsenal.

Despite the disappointment, there was a milestone of sorts for Bernardo Silva, who became the first outfield player to make 350 appearances under Pep Guardiola.

Including goalkeepers, only Ederson (371) has made more appearances under the Spaniard.

Bees frustrate Cherries

  • Brentford have still never lost a Premier League match against Bournemouth, extending their unbeaten record over the Cherries to eight games.

Bournemouth and Brentford played out a goalless draw on the south coast, although the result kept alive two streaks.

The Cherries extended their unbeaten run to nine league matches without a win, but, the draw did mean that they still haven’t managed to beat Brentford in any of their eight Premier League duels.

Summerville sizzling

  • Crysencio Summerville has scored seven of West Ham United’s 17 goals in all competitions in 2026 – more than twice the total of any of his teammates.

West Ham boosted their survival hopes with an important 1-0 win away to Fulham, thanks to a solitary strike from Crysencio Summerville. The 18th-placed Hammers have drawn level on 28 points with Nottingham Forest, with Tottenham just one point ahead in 16th.

The in-form Summerville has now scored seven of West Ham United’s 17 goals in all competitions in 2026, which is more than double the total of any of his Hammers teammates.

Sorry Spurs

  • Tottenham are without a win in 11 Premier League matches for the first time in their history.

Tottenham have set a new club record, and it’s surprisingly not a good one. The shocking 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Thursday extended their rotten winless Premier League run to 11 games, which is now the worst barren patch in their history.

Spurs, whose under-fire boss Igor Tudor has lost all three games, alarmingly leaked in three goals in the period between the 40th minute and half-time, meaning they have now conceded 17 goals in the last 15 minutes of the first-half, which is more than any other side this season.

Meanwhile, only Wolves (40) have lost more Premier League games than Spurs (36) since the start of last season.
