Germany are four-time world champions. They’ve been at every World Cup since 1954, which they won. But Die Mannschaft are looking to end a torrid run.
After winning the World Cup in 2014, Germany have been knocked out of the group stage in each of the past two tournaments. They’ve won just two of their six matches, bowing out of both tournaments with ignominy.
A new era has started with Germany and their campaign got off to a flying start with a thumping win over Curacao in Houston, putting them in the driving seat in Group E.
Germany odds to win the World Cup
Germany may be considered as slight outsiders for the World Cup. Although they are four-time winners and have been ever-present for over 70 years, recent failures have brought in doubts.
Despite their struggles, Germany remain a top side, which makes their recent failures even more surprising. But it also gives them the more favourable groups at the World Cup. As such, Germany will fancy their chances to finally making it past the group stage this time around.
How about going all the way? They’re ranked at around 14/1 which isn’t bad at all, but it by no means has them expected to win a fifth World Cup. That offers an implied probability of 6.67%.
Germany odds to win Group E
As mentioned, Germany will fancy their chances of getting out of their group. And they’re favourites to win Group E. It’s a pretty decent group for Die Mannschaft on paper — though they, of all nations, will know the risks of taking opponents lightly.
Nonetheless, Germany are heavy favourites. It would be the biggest shock of the past three World Cups if they weren’t to win Group E, let alone fail to qualify.
Germany stage of elimination odds
As you’d expect with the odds above, Germany are expected to progress from their group. And they’re not expected to be knocked out immediately after either. Bookmakers currently have an exit in the last-16 or quarter-final as the most likely outcome for Germany — both at 3/1. If you fancied another group-stage humiliation, though, that’s 14/1.
| Stage of Elimination | Odds from Bet365 |
|---|---|
| Round of 16 | 3/1 |
| Quarter-finals | 3/1 |
| Round of 32 | 10/3 |
| Semi-finals | 4/1 |

| Winner | 12/1 |
| Group stage | 14/1 |
Germany World Cup top goalscorer odds
There are odds for a host of Germany players to win the Golden Boot at the 2026 World Cup. But none of them are really fancied. Nick Woltemade has the shorter odds, but he’s still priced as far as 20/1. The Newcastle United striker only made his Germany debut in June 2025 but he’s scored four goals in eight senior appearances.
