Liverpool predicted lineup vs Leeds United

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Salah, Isak, Gakpo.

Arne Slot’s side were fortunate to come away with a point at home to Sunderland in midweek. But a rejuvenated Leeds will be buzzing following their impressive 3-1 win against Chelsea.

Liverpool team news vs Leeds United

Liverpool remain without defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni. But there is optimism that Conor Bradley could return to the squad. Even so, Dominik Szoboszlai may be asked to fill in at right-back, with Joe Gomez unlikely to be risked for a third start in seven days. Meanwhile, Andrew Robertson and Milos Kerkez will battle it out for the left-back spot.

Florian Wirtz thought he’d finally scored his first Liverpool goal against Sunderland, only for it to be credited as a Nordi Mukiele own goal. The German is expected to keep his place, but there could be changes around him. Mo Salah will be desperate to start following back-to-back benchings and Federico Chiesa will be eager for a rare start. Cody Gakpo may drop out after being withdrawn at half-time on Wednesday.

Up front, Alexander Isak has started the last three league fixtures, scoring against West Ham, though he struggled to make an impact midweek. Hugo Ekitike will hope to be recalled.

Will Mo Salah start for the Reds?

Liverpool’s biggest selection dilemma once again centres on Mo Salah. Boss Arne Slot is weighing up whether to bench the Egyptian for a third consecutive match. Salah didn’t feature at all in the win over West Ham and was then introduced at half-time against Sunderland, but once again underwhelmed.

It would be quite the bold statement for Slot to bench Salah for a third straight game. Yet Salah’s recent form hasn’t helped his case. He’s now gone six matches without a goal for club or country and has scored just twice in the Premier League since mid-September.

But history suggests this could be the perfect fixture for Salah to rediscover his spark. Salah boasts a superb record against Leeds, having netted nine goals in six appearances. He has scored in all but one of those encounters, including each of the last four, and scored a hat-trick in the 4-3 thriller back in the 2020-21 season.
