Craig Pawson’s Everton record
Pawson has refereed 31 Everton games across all competitions to date. And they’ve not had a good record. The Toffees have lost over half of their matches with Pawson in the middle. A 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest last season ended a run of nine games without victory for Everton under Pawson’s watch, stretching back to May 2022. Interestingly, the last home game Everton won with Pawson as referee came against Newcastle in March 2022.

What happened when Craig Pawson last refereed Everton?
Pawson was the man in the middle for Everton’s 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last month. He only showed two yellow cards, both to Everton players. James Garner was booked for a foul, while Jack Grealish was cautioned for dissent, unhappy with the lack of further punishment after he was fouled by Rodrigo Bentancur. Pawson awarded 17 fouls in total, with nine going against Everton and eight going their way.

Craig Pawson’s Newcastle record
Pawson has overseen 40 Newcastle games to date, only officiating two teams more during his refeering career. Across those matches, Pawson has sent off five Newcastle players, showing no team more red cards. The four straight red cards is the most of any team. The Mapgies have had mixed results too, winning 14, drawing 13 and losing 13. But they haven’t won any of the past five, including their last trip to Everton, a goalless draw at the start of last season.

Pawson has been the most lenient referee in the Premier League this season. He’s shown just 16 cards across his seven games, averaging only 2.2 per match.
