‘Silly Season’ manager specials: Arne Slot 7/1 to leave Liverpool in 2025

As the season hurtles toward the hectic festive period, managerial pressure intensifies, fueling speculation about potential exits and appointments across the Premier League, EFL, and Scottish leagues.

In response, Sky Bet have launched their ‘Silly Season’ manager specials odds, which hones in on current vacancies, jobs that could soon become available, and the potential return of high-profile bosses.

We’ve broken down the key markets below.

Daniel Farke to leave as Leeds manager before 01/01/2026

Daniel Farke is under pressure at Leeds United after losing four of his last five matches. That includes consecutive defeats to Brighton and Hove Albion (3-0) and Nottingham Forest (3-1) going into the international break.

Bookmakers have reacted to the poor run, pricing Farke at 2/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave. Betting sites are also already offering odds on potential replacements should he exit Elland Road.

With upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, Farke’s days could well be numbered. Sky Bet are offering odds of 1/2 for the German coach to depart by New Year’s Day.

Celtic to appoint a permanent manager before 01/12/2025

Celtic are on the hunt for a new permanent manager following the exit of Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman has since been replaced by caretaker and former Hoops boss Martin O’Neill. More on him in a moment.

Wilfried Nancy, boss of Columbus Crew, is the clear favourite at 1/5 to take the role, while O’Neill is 9/2, and Kjetil Knutsen sits at 15/2. Outsiders include Ange Postecoglou, Marco Rose, and Craig Bellamy (all 33/1).

However, all signs point to Nancy’s imminent arrival.

Martin O’Neill to remain in charge of Celtic on 01/12/2025

Should Celtic hit stumbling blocks in their pursuit of Nancy, with a multi-million dollar compensation reportedly required, then O’Neill’s odds of staying at the helm – at least for the upcoming weeks – will shorten.

At the time of writing, the former Hoops boss has won three and lost one of his four games in charge.

Steven Gerrard to be appointed as a permanent manager before 01/01/2026

Steven Gerrard was recently linked with a return to Rangers. But he decided against it, with the club instead appointing Danny Rohl.

A Premier League return seems unlikely for the former Aston Villa boss, but several Championship vacancies are currently open, including Southampton, Norwich City, Swansea, and Middlesbrough, with Gerrard 4/1 to join the latter.

Ange Postecoglou to be appointed as a permanent manager before 01/01/2026

Speaking of out-of-work managers, Gerrard’s former Old Firm rival Ange Postecoglou could be eyeing up a swift return to the dugout following his disastrous stint at Nottingham Forest. He lasted all of 39 days.

The Aussie previously led Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League glory and lifted back-to-back league titles at Celtic, although a return to Parkhead appears remote. He could, however, be on Leeds’ radar should they axe Farke.

Scott Parker to leave as Burnley manager before 01/01/2026

Scott Parker has plenty of credit in the bank following an impressive debut season at Burnley. The Clarets have gone on to push the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United to the wire this season upon their return to the top-flight.

The Clarets currently sit 17th in the table, above West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. But football can change quickly with Parker priced at 4/1 to depart before the year is out. Pretty unlikely, but not out of the question.

Eddie Howe to leave as Newcastle manager before 01/01/2026

Eddie Howe has done a superb job at Newcastle United, qualifying for the Champions League twice and winning their first major trophy since 1955.

Newcastle have made a strong start to their current Champions League campaign, winning three of their four games. However, their Premier League form has been patchy, leaving them 14th, just two points above the relegation zone. Four defeats in their last six matches have shifted the pressure gauge towards Howe.

Admittedly, an exit seems remote despite their poor form, yet it’s one to watch if league results fail to pick up soon.

Arne Slot to leave as Liverpool manager before 01/01/2026

Here’s one we weren’t expecting at this point of the season…Arne Slot. The Dutchman brilliantly steered Liverpool to the 2024-25 title and started the new campaign with five consecutive league wins. But he now faces mounting pressure following a shock run of five defeats in six games, including last weekend’s heavy 3-0 loss to rivals Manchester City.

The result leaves the Reds eighth in the table, eight points behind early leaders Arsenal. It’s form that has seen bookmakers lengthen Liverpool’s title odds to double figures.

With the summer’s mega-money new recruits failing to make an impact, Slot has seen his odds sliced to 16/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave, with Sky Bet offering 7/1 on him leaving Anfield before New Year’s Day.

Ruben Amorim to leave as Man Utd manager before 01/01/2026

Sky Bet would instantly have had to suspend this market if they’d offered 12/1 on Ruben Amorim’s exit six weeks ago.

Man Utd had just lost 3-1 to Brentford with many giving Amorim just a game to save himself. The Portuguese coach has since inspired 11 points from an unbeaten five-game run, including a 2-1 victory at Liverpool.

Amorim now seems to be finding his rhythm at Old Trafford, and with a favourable run of fixtures ahead, a top-four finish is within reach.

However, those 12/1 odds could start to look tempting again if United slip back into old habits.

Jurgen Klopp to be appointed as a permanent manager before 01/01/2026

Jurgen Klopp can be backed at 20/1 to return to management before the end of the year.

Since the start of 2025, the Liverpool legend has been serving as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull GmbH, but deep down, he’s surely itching to return to the touchline.

With only a six-week window for this bet to come in, the long odds of 20/1 reflect its unlikelihood, but don’t be surprised if Klopp makes his highly anticipated managerial return sometime in 2026.
