Premier League predictions – Gameweek 3: City to get back to winning ways at Brighton

The Premier League returns for gameweek 3, with fixtures taking place over Saturday and Sunday and before the dreaded international break.

Liverpool and Arsenal remain the favourites to be crowned league winners, and the pair face off at Anfield on Sunday. With both having already taken six points from a possible six, it’s sure to be a contest that could see either side take an early advantage in the race for the title.

Here are the fixtures for Gameweek 3 (30–31 August 2025) and our predictions for each game.

Chelsea vs Fulham – Saturday 30 August, 12:30pm

Fulham stunned Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season, but history still firmly favours the Blues in this fixture. Meetings between these two have rarely gone against them, and Chelsea will be confident of reasserting that dominance here.

Maresca’s side might not find Fulham as open as West Ham were, yet with their quality and momentum, they should have enough to get the job done in a composed fashion.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 (11/1 with Midnite)

Wolves vs Everton – Saturday 30 August, 3:00pm

Everton are beginning to look like a tough side to crack again, with five wins from their last 10 league trips on the road. Defensively, they’ve rediscovered some resilience too, conceding just twice across their last six matches stretching into this season.

Wolves, on the other hand, appear stuck in a familiar pattern. August continues to be an unhappy month at Molineux, where they’ve now gone 11 games without a league win, and once again they find themselves starting a campaign without a point.

Prediction: Wolves 1-2 (9/1 with Midnite)

Man Utd vs Burnley – Saturday 30 August, 3:00pm

United were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley when the sides last met in April 2024, though the Red Devils do generally boast a decent record in the head-to-head. In fact, they have lost just once in the last 18 meetings, and twice overall since 1969. Meanwhile, eight of their last 12 victories over the Clarets have been by a two-goal margin.

Man Utd’s embarrassing defeat to Grimsby in the week should fuel the fire ahead of this weekend’s game and Man Utd will be keen to grab a statement win against a side they really should be beating.

Prediction Man Utd 2-0 Burnley (8/1 with Midnite)

Sunderland vs Brentford – Saturday 30 August, 3:00pm

Despite losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest on MD1, no team have won more away Premier League points than Brentford in 2025 (23 – W7 D2 L2). It’s already more away points than they managed in 2022 (22), 2023 (19) and 2024 (12) and is their joint most away top-flight wins in one year, also winning seven in 1937.

Sunderland are winless in their last five meetings with Brentford in all competitions (D2 L3), with the first since a 2-0 home loss in the Championship in February 2018. Brentford appear to be rediscovering their attacking touch under Keith Andrews, while the absence of Dan Ballard means that Sunderland have lost one of their key threats in both penalty areas.

Prediction: Sunderland 1-2 Brentford (9/1 with Midnite)

Tottenham vs Bournemouth – Saturday 30 August, 3:00pm

16 of Bournemouth’s last 20 away matches have featured both teams scoring, and another end-to-end contest could be on the cards here. The Cherries only lost five games on the road last season and have proved effective on the counter-attack against Liverpool on the opening night of this campaign.

Spurs have impressed so far under Thomas Frank and last week recorded a sensational win at Manchester City. They have started with back-to-back clean sheets; however, they have conceded 2.5xG across those two matches. Tottenham’s past five home league games have seen 16 goals scored, with 10 coming after half-time. A high-scoring draw could be on the cards.

Prediction: Tottemham 2-2 Bournemouth (12/1 with Midnite)

Brighton vs Man City – Sunday 31 August, 2:00pm

Brighton were excellent against Man City last season, picking up four points across the two clashes, and they’ve got the quality to trouble Pep Guardiola’s side again. However, this City team already look in ominous form, brushing aside Wolves with ease on the opening day of the season.

Brighton have struggled during their start to the season, picking up a point against Fulham on the opening weekend before labouring to a 2-0 loss against Everton last weekend. If Man City find their feet again then could put Brighton to the sword and come away from the Amex with all three points.

Prediction: Brighton 0-3 Man City (16/1 with Midnite)

Nottingham Forest vs West Ham – Sunday 31 August, 2:00pm

Nottingham Forest have won their past four home games against West Ham across all competitions without conceding. They put in a strong showing against Brentford with a 3-1 win on the opening day, and another similar scoreline could be on the cards here against a Hammers side that has been smashed by 3-0 by Sunderland and 5-1 by Chelsea.

West Ham have faced the most shots on target in the Premier League this season (12). Between Graham Potter’s first game and the end of the 2024-25 season, the Hammers had faced the joint 10th most shots on target of any side (77).

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-0 West Ham (7/1 with Midnite)

Liverpool vs Arsenal – Sunday 31 August, 4:30pm

It’s fair to say that neither team want to get beaten at Anfield on Sunday, and as a result, backing the draw looks like a massive player. Both Premier League contests between Liverpool and Arsenal ended in a stalemate last term, with both matches finishing 2-2. We don’t think we’ll see quite as many goals on Sunday, but the points could well be shared.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal (6/1 with Midnite)

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace – Sunday 31 August, 7:00pm

Crystal Palace qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, but after their trip to Norway, the Villans may have the edge, and their strong home record makes them an attractive price here at just below evens.

Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last 19 home Premier League matches (W11 D8), the longest current unbeaten run on home soil of any side. The Villans last had a run of 20 or more unbeaten home league games between October 1971 and September 1972 (23), while in the top-flight they last did so between December 1922 and January 1924 (26).

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Crystal Palace (9/1 with Midnite)
