How both teams go into Chelsea vs Fulham
Chelsea snatched fourth place at the end of last season – thus securing Champions League football – while they also collected silverware in the Conference League and expanded Club World Cup.
Enzo Maresca will be keen to build on that this season, which began with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend.
Therefore, the Blues will want to hit the ground running here and give Stamford Bridge their first goals of the campaign. Chelsea were able to put West Ham to the sword last weekend, running out 5-1 winners against a lacklustre Hammers side.
Fulham’s season looked it would start with a defeat at the American Express Stadium, where they trailed Brighton in the 96th minute following a generally disappointing display.
Yet, Rodrigo Muniz – linked with a move away from Craven Cottage – came up trumps by scoring a dramatic equaliser with what fans will hope is not his final kick for the club. Fulham were able to secure another draw last weekend, again coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Man Utd.
Although they faltered towards the end of last season and fell out of European qualifying contention, Marco Silva’s side still registered their record points tally in a single Premier League campaign, so the challenge will be to better that this term.
Chelsea team news
The game is just too soon for Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile, but returned from suspension last week. It remains to be seen when Tosin Adarabioyo will be available for selection again, but Levi Colwill is a long-term absentee. Cole Palmer is rated at 50/50 for this game after pulling out of their previous fixture in the warm up.
Fulham team news
Antonee Robinson and Ryan Sessegnon should be available for Fulham, with both having recently been sidelined through injury. There are no injury or suspension worries for Marco Silva this weekend with his squad receiving a clean bill of health.
