How both teams go into Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool’s opening match was an exciting one as they had their two-goal lead wiped out by the brilliant Antoine Semenyo, only for Federico Chiesa and Mo Salah to score late on to secure the three points. Prior to this, the Reds drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, before losing on penalties. Summer signing Hugo Ekitike impressed in particular with two goals and an assist across the two games.
Liverpool struggled for long periods last weekend against Newcastle but were able to come away from the North East with all three points thanks to a 99th minute winner in a 3-2 victory. Whilst the Reds have looked at their fearsome best in attack they have looked poor in defence, as shown by conceding four goals in two games so far.
Arsenal were far from their best but got the job done in a narrow 1-0 win away to Man United. The only goal of the game came early on in the 13th minute from a Riccardo Calafiori header after Altay Bayindi made a complete hash of the corner.
The Gunners were much improved against Leeds last weekend though, romping home 5-0 with new striker Viktor Gyokeres getting on the scoresheet twice. Arsenal have yet to concede a goal this season, with Gabriel and William Saliba looking at their best at the heart of the Arsenal defence.

Jeremie Frimpong will be out until after the international break for Arne Slot’s side. Alexis Mac Allister missed out last weekend as he fights for fitness but Slot is hoping to have him back at full fitness this weekend.

Over at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has a headache selection – of the good kind – at right and left back, but the same can’t be said for the attacking areas with doubts hanging over the heads of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will definitely be out.
