Chelsea team news vs Benfica
Chelsea will almost be at full capacity in Mecklenburg County, with only Nicolas Jackson missing out.
The striker was initially set to miss one game after being sent off against Flamengo last Friday, but the Fifa Disciplinary Committee extended his ban to two games this week.
Will Chelsea start the big guns?
Enzo Maresca fielded a weaker XI in his side’s 3-0 win against Esperance in the midweek. Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill and Robert Sanchez were all rested.
With the hefty financial stakes in this year’s rendition of the Club World Cup, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Chelsea opt for a stronger lineup, especially now that we’re in the knockout phase.
The Blues would receive around a £9.5million windfall if they were to advance to the quarter-finals.
For reference, that’s around £500,000 more than they would get for making the last-eight of the Champions League.
