Iga Swiatek’s quest to win a third French Open title ended in success – here are full details of her next match.
The winner at Roland Garros in two of the last three years, reigning champion Swiatek is aiming to become only the sixth woman in the Open Era to successfully defend the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen.
Her quest began with a pair of 6-4, 6-0 wins over Cristina Bucsa and Claire Liu setting up a third-round clash with China’s Wang Xinyu, which she had few issues tackling.
She then navigated past Lesia Tsurenko — who retired at 5-1 down in the first set through injury — before breezing through her mouth-watering clash with Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals 6-4, 6-2.
Swiatek then had to battle past 14th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia to book her place in yet another final in the French capital, where she was able to overcome Karolina Muchova.
