Liga MX runs two tournaments per calendar year: the Apertura (July–December) and the Clausura (January–May), each crowning its own champion. Eighteen clubs play a 17-game regular phase. The top six on the Tabla General go straight to the Liguilla Quarterfinals; the clubs finishing 7th to 10th enter the Reclasificación play-in for the last two spots. The Liguilla then runs as two-legged Quarterfinals and Semifinals and a two-legged Final.
