RB Leipizg welcome SC Freiburg to the Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon as the Bundesliga returns to action.
The match will be played behind closed doors as the hosts look to boost their slender title hopes.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side sent a firm message out in March when they dumped Tottenham Hotspur out of the Champions League and will be looking to close the gap to Borussia Dortmund and leaders Bayern Munich.
As for Freiburg, they sit inside the top 10, but it will be a tall order for them to leave Leipzig with all three points. However, the enforced break means fitness levels and a lack of match sharpness could come into play.

RB Leipzig vs Freiburg preview
This is scheduled to be only the 10th meeting between RB Leipizg and SC Freiburg; since their founding just over a decade ago, Die Roten Bullen have only played VfL Wolfsburg (12) more times in their young history.
The first game, which took place in Germany‘s second division, saw Ralf Rangnick’s men — which featured Willi Orban, Lukas Klostermann, Marcel Sabitzer and Emil Forsberg among others — held to a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena.
Freiburg, en route to promotion, won the return fixture 2-1. The Baden-Württemberg-based club won the league by five points ahead of RB Leipizig, who joined them in the Bundesliga – where they’ve regularly crossed paths since.
In the big time, however, it’s ‘RasenBallsport’ who have edged out in front regarding head-to-head bragging rights. Freiburg’s win earlier this season meant they’ve now tasted three wins over the east German outfit, but have lost four in seven previous meetings.
Albeit three of those came in the first three Bundesliga matches, each time Leipzig put four goals past Freiburg, and their most recent win came at the backend of last season.
Freiburg have never completed a league double over RB Leipzig with this showdown being their second opportunity to do so after the 2018/19 season, which saw them win 3-0 at home before falling to a 2-1 away defeat.
RB Leipzig title hopes alive
Momentum was certainly on RB Leipzig‘s side prior to the Bundesliga suspension, having made light work of Jose Mourinho‘s Spurs side in the Champions League. Nagelsmann’s men toppled last season’s finalists 3-0 on home turf en route to a comfortable 4-0 aggregate victory.
This win, though, was followed by back-to-back draws in the Bundesliga, which saw Leipzig fall five points adrift of leaders and defending champions Bayern with Borussia Dortmund sandwiched between them.
Christian Streich, who has been in charge of Freiburg in all of their previous meetings with RB Leipzig, presently sees his team sitting a point below the European places. They previously picked up just one point from nine available before recording a resounding 3-1 win over struggling Union Berlin.
Their form on the road, it must be said, isn’t the most encouraging. Freiburg face a tough task as they head to a stadium they’re yet to win at on the back of one win from their last 10 away league matches, during which time they suffered five defeats.
