Most take-ons: Serie A 2021/22 season
Serie A remains a division where dribbling is not only lauded, but encouraged.
Once home to arguably the greatest dribbler football has ever seen in Diego Maradona, it’s no wonder why the terraces in Serie A light up when a successful take-on is pulled off. Not least because the Italian top flight is an infamously difficult offensive league, given the defensive and organisational emphasis of the coaches there.
In homage to El Pibe de Oro, Napoli’s very own Lorenzo Insigne showcased his twinkle-toed feet and balletic stride at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last season, placing in the top 10 for completed take-ons, with Atletico Madrid’s new boy Rodrigo de Paul ruling the roost for that particular metric.
This season it’s Felipe Anderson currently leading the way with 32 completed take-ons in Serie A so far this season, the only player to reach the 30-mark. The former West Ham United man is seven clear of his closest competitor Rafael Leao, with Jeremie Boga and Nicolo Zaniolo are tied on 24. There’s another former Premier League man in the top five with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa completing 23 take-ons so far this season.
