Serie A was the last of Europe’s top five leagues to get underway for the 2021/22 campaign but the race to be the top playmaker is already heating up.

Ruslan Malinovskyi took the crown last season, with three assists in May aiding his total tally of 12, finishing ahead of Romelu Lukaku (11 assists), Juan Cuadrado, Piotr Zielinski and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (all 10). But none of the top five feature in the early standings (and understandably in Romelu Lukaku’s case as he is no longer in the league).

That will, undoubtedly, all change as the 2021/22 campaign progresses and players start to find their feet following a summer of international football and a lack of rest. You can keep track of the playmaker race below across the season and see who ultimately wins come May.
