While SpreadEx does offer fixed odds betting, it is more known for its spread betting — hence the name.

Spread betting differs from fixed odds betting in that a punter is given a spread of numbers and will pick whether what will happen is above or below that spread. For example, Manchester United vs Liverpool has a total goal spread of 3.45-3.65. You sell if you think there will be three goals or less and buy if you think there will be four or more goals.

Although there was a goalless draw last season, recent meetings between Man Utd and Liverpool have been kind to neutrals. The past nine games have seen a grand total of 41 goals scored, for an average of 4.6 per match. Only three matches have seen fewer than four goals scored.

However, it’s worth remembering that you can lose more than your stake with spread betting. When you win or lose, your stake is multiplied by how many points the result was on either side of the spread.

Sticking with Man Utd vs Liverpool, the 1st Match Goal market is currently 28-31. If we place a £5 stake on buy and the first goal is scored in the 36th minute, we win £5 x 5 minutes, so a £25 profit. If the first goal is scored in the 18th minute, then our £5 is multiplied by 10, and we lose £50.

SpreadEx also offer spread betting on Player Season Performance, with Erling Haaland expected to come out on top. His current spread for total points for the season is 2350-2500, with the points breakdown as follows:

  • 10 points for each team match won
  • 25 points for each player goal scored
  • 25 points for each player assist
  • 250 bonus points for player hat-trick
  • 500 points if team wins league
  • 250 points if player wins Golden Boot
  • -50 points if player scores an own goal
  • -50 points if player gets a red card

Last season, the Norwegian will have amassed a total of 2,330 points, slightly hampered by missed matches lowering his goal tally. But he was still getting the 10 points for games Man City won without him.

In his debut Premier League campaign, Haaland will have received a grand total of 3,130 points, aided by his 36 goals and four hat-tricks. After two games this season, Haaland is on 370 points, thanks to two wins, four goals scored and a hat-trick.

His closest rival for points prediction is Bukayo Saka (1275-1350), but Mohamed Salah (1225-1300), Kevin De Bruyne (1075-1150), Phil Foden (1025-1100) and Cole Palmer (950-1025) are all predicted to have good campaigns.

Of that particular quintet, Palmer leads for points with 110. The Englishman has 10 points for Chelsea’s 6-2 win over Wolves, in which he scored one goal and provided three assists — for an additional 100 points.
