It was a strange series against Maccabi as Monaco trailed after the first game but then led 2-1 only to be trashed by almost 40 points in game four. Barcelona, meanwhile, finished second in the regular season just one win behind table toppers Olympiacos to get a favourable playoff tie against Zalgiris. And while all other matchups went the five-game distance, Barcelona had their victory tied up in three, barely being troubled by the Lithuanian side.
However, that didn’t really count for anything when Barcelona took on rivals Real Madrid in the semifinals. Another important Clasico Barcelona unfortunately came out on the wrong end of the result this time, losing 78-66.
