For the third time in history, the Community Shield will be a Manchester derby. The first time in happened came in 1956 when Manchester United were the league champions and Manchester City the FA Cup holders. Then, the final was hosted at Man City’s Maine Road, and Dennis Viollet scored the winner for Man Utd with 15 minutes left to play.
Their rematch came 55 years later, again with Man Utd as league champions and Man City FA Cup holders. At Wembley, Man City took a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Joleon Lescott and Edin Dzeko. But Chris Smalling and Nani pulled Man Utd back level before the latter scored the winner in injury time.
Two years later, Man Utd beat Wigan 2-0 to lift the trophy for the 20th time, the first team to reach that milestone. Man Utd were last in the Community Shield in 2016, taking their tally to 21 as they beat Leicester in the final.
Man City have won the Community Shield six times, last lifting the trophy in 2019. However, they have lost in the final nine times, the joint-most alongside Man Utd and Chelsea. The Citizens have lost the last three Community Shields, all as Premier League champions.

What you get
If your bet wins:

Your Free Bets:
