Cameron Norrie will be looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit Andy Murray and claim a Wimbledon title, but the Johannesburg-born left-hander has never made it passed the Third Round at a Grand Slam tournament in his career, so he will know it’s a tall order to emulate that fabled footpath.
The 26-year-old enters London’s annual showpiece as the tournament’s No. 9 seed and he made good on his favourable ranking in the First Round after beating Pablo Andujar in straight sets, prevailing 6-0, 7-6, 6-3. He now takes on his second successive Spanish opponent, looking to tee up a potential tie against wildcard Brit Ryan Peniston in the Third Round, who faces Steve Johnson in his Second Round.
Jaume Munar also enjoyed a three-set triumph in his curtain-raiser, eliminating Brazilian Thiago Monteiro with little-to-no fuss.
