As one of the three hosts for this summer’s 2026 World Cup, United States will be hoping for glory. They’ve released their 26-man squad ahead of the tournament.
Mauricio Pochettino is the man tasked with leading the USMNT into the competition and the Argentine has named a 26-man squad that he believes can lead the nation to glory.
The squad has a mix of players plying their trade in Europe and MLS, with Premier League stars such as Tyler Adams of Bournemouth and Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards making the squad. However, Atletico Madrid midfielder Johnny Cardoso will miss out with an ankle injury.

The World Cup is returning to American soil this summer and Mauricio Pochettino has selected a relatively youthful squad that’s packed with talent from across Major League Soccer and some of the biggest leagues in Europe, with players from the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga and La Liga included in the squad.
Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards will likely start the tournament in Pochettino’s preferred XI and they could be joined by Robinson’s former Fulham team-mate Tim Ream although at 38 he may now be used largely as a back-up option.
Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie will provide a solid base in midfield for the more attack-minded Malik Tillman and Christian Pulisic to work from while Haji Wright, fresh from a 17 goal season with Championship-winning Coventry City, will hope to get the nod up top.

Three players to look out for this summer
Christian Pulisic (AC Milan)
Despite the emergence of players like Malik Tillman and Giovanni Reyna, Christian Pulisic continues to be the creative heartbeat as well as the emotional leader of this USMNT outfit. It almost seems strange that he’s still just 27 years of age given that he’s now racked up 84 appearances over 10 years for his country and scored 32 goals in the process.
Where previous teams often resorted to ‘give it to Pulisic and hope’ tactics, this current US side seems to have more quality throughout and that could free him up to be more expressive and creative in this tournament rather than feeling the weight of expectation – but when the chips are down you can still expect Pulisic to be the man that the US supporters turn to in order to create something out of nothing.
Tyler Adams (Bournemouth)
If Christian Pulisic remains the creative focal point of this US side then Tyler Adams is unquestionably the player that gives the team its structure and balance. Capable of covering huge amounts of ground, breaking up transitions and setting the tempo in possession, Adams has turned into a genuine all-rounder in midfield and will be the man that Mauricio Pochettino relies on to make his team tick this summer.
The Bournemouth man’s ability to shield the defence frees up the likes of Pulisic as well as Giovanni Reyna and Malik Tillman to be more creative and destructive in the forward areas. When games get stretched and emotional, as they always do at World Cups, Adams will prove to be the cool head and bring the organisation that the Stars and Stripes need to not let games get away from them.
Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen)
A name slightly less well-known in England at least, Malik Tillman has emerged as one of the most technically refined attacking midfielders to come out of North America and he brings a different dimension to this USA attack.
Comfortable receiving between the lines, he has the ability to carry the ball under pressure and is inventive in possession – as well as carrying a genuine goal threat. He comes to the World Cup on the back of a solid first season with Bayer Leverkusen who he joined from PSV Eindhoven last summer and he’ll hope to be given the nod to start by Pochettino when the US begin their campaign against Paraguay at the SoFi Stadium.
