Switzerland World Cup 2026: Route to the final & tactical analysis

Switzerland are through to the knock-out stages at the World Cup once again – but what does their route to the final look like now they’re through the group stage?

On Matchday One, El Nati looked comfortable against Qatar until a last minute Boualem Khoukhi header drew the scores level and left all four Group B teams on one point after their first game.

However, a confident showing against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Los Angeles resulted in a 4-1 victory, leaving Switzerland top of the group.

They were able to remain their too thanks to a 1-2 victory over Canada in Vancouver in the final group game.

Switzerland are set for a nice break before they get back in action in Vancouver on July 2nd, where they will play one of the best third-placed teams.

The benefit of winning the group is that they can stay in Vancouver if they win their Round of 32 game too, where they will likely play Portugal as winner of Group K on July 7th.

If they remain in they will then head to Kasnas City for the quarter final on July 11th and Atlanta for the semi-final on July 15th before wrapping up the tournament in New Jersey on July 19th in the final.
