Bosnia-Herzegovina have become the first nation to name their final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Sergej Barbarez has named a 26-man squad for this summers tournament in United States, Canada and Mexico in what will be the nations second ever appearance at the World Cup finals.
There aren’t that many familiar names in the squad but one that catches the eye is Edin Dzeko, who won the Premier League title with Manchester City in 2012 and 2014. The striker will be one of the older players to take part this summer, with Dzeko turning 40 earlier this year.

There’s plenty of experience in the Bosnia-Herzegovina squad but, aside from Dzeko, there doesn’t look like many goals. The likes of Tabakovic and Demirovic will need to step up and produce more in front of goal to give Bosnia-Herzegovina the best chance of making it out of Group B.
There’s plenty of the squad that play in elite European leagues but their midfield looks like it could be a little bit light, with none of the 10 players plying their trade in a top league.

Three players to look out for this summer
Edin Dzeko (Schalke)
Dzeko signed for Schalke in January of this year, leaving Fiorentina after 18 months at the Serie A club. It’s been a successful period for the 40-year-old, who has scored six times for the Bundesliga 2. club in 10 appearances.
Much of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s hopes will rest on his experienced shoulders but, with Dzeko being in the twilight of his career, the players around him will need to step up and provide some much needed support as the Eastern European side aim to reach the knockout stages for the first time in their history.
Haris Tabakovic (Borussia Monchengladbach)
One of those players that will need to step up and be counted this summer is Tabakovic. The 31-year-old has only made 10 appearances for his country but has excelled for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, scoring 12 times in the Bundesliga.
His record for Bosnia-Herzegovina is good too, despite his limited playing time, notching four goals in 10 caps. His experience in one of Europe’s top five leagues could prove to be vital and he’s definitely one to watch in a group that looks wide open when it comes to qualification to the knockout stages.
Esmir Bajraktarevic (PSV Eindhoven)
Bringing some much needed youth to the Bosnia-Herzegovina squad is Bajraktarevic, who plays his football at PSV Eindhoven and has been key in the Dutch side winning the Eredivisie this season.
He’s made 28 appearances in the league for PSV, scoring four, and his performances have seen him linked to Premier League side, Everton. This could be a breakout tournament for the 21-year-old right winger, who could see his price rise dramatically if he impresses in North America and Mexico this summer
