Lincoln Financial Field: History
Lincoln Financial Field opened in 2003 as the new home of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL. Yet, football (or soccer) was the first sport played there, with Manchester United taking on Barcelona in a friendly.
The stadium also hosted games during the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the newly revamped FIFA Club World Cup earlier this year, as well as various matches in the Copa America and CONCACAF Gold Cup.
However, the venue has been mainly utilised for American football and Lacrosse during its 22-year existence, while it has also played host to ice hockey and WWE.
Many of the world’s biggest musical artists have also performed concerts at Lincoln Financial Field, including Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Coldplay, The Rolling Stones and One Direction.
