United States shot out of the blocks in Group D after the 2026 World Cup co-hosts thrashed Paraguay 4-1 in their opening game. However, there’s a still a long way to go with Australia vs Turkey up next.
The US are the odds-on favourites to win the group after that superb opening performance in front of a jubilant home crowd. Turkey follow in the betting as they prepare for a testing clash against Australia, while Paraguay are now the rank outsiders.

World Cup 2026 Group D Fixtures
United States opened proceedings in Group D when they took on Paraguay at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. After a big build-up, the co-hosts showed absolutely no sign of nerves as they jetted into a stunning 3-0 lead at the break, before the teams added one goal apiece in the second-half.
All eyes will now be on Vancouver for the next clash between Australia and Turkey in what promises to be a key contest.
Matchday two sees United States and Australia clash in what both teams will see as a pivotal encounter. The other matchup sees Turkey and Paraguay fight it out.
The final Group D games take place at the same time on Friday 26th June. Turkey take on United States, while Paraguay meet Australia. All four teams will be hoping to find the results they need to qualify on the final day of group action.
World Cup 2026 Group D Results
United States are the current favourites to win Group A. The bookmakers clearly think home advantage could prove to be the difference maker. They aren’t far ahead of Turkey in the betting though, with Australia at 11/1, and now Paraguay out at 25/1 following their poor opening game.
You can find Turkey at 2/1 to win Group D but we think that home field advantage could prove to be the only difference. We’re backing United States to make it count and come out on top in Group D, securing safe passage to the knockout stage. In truth, it wouldn’t be a shock for any of these sides to come out on top but we’re backing Mauricio Pochettino’s side to just edge it.
