Tottenham team news vs Nottingham Forest and predicted lineup

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to move away from the Premier League relegation zone when they host Nottingham Forest on Sunday at 2:15pm.

Igor Tudor’s side sit just one point clear of the bottom three in 16th, and one ahead of Nottingham Forest below them.

Tottenham predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Sarr, Gray; Tel, Simons, Kolo Muani; Richarlison.

Spurs are winless in their past 12 league games, still awaiting their first victory of 2026. But they did finally get their first win under Tudor in midweek, beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League — though it wasn’t enough to prevent them from being knocked out.

Tottenham have lost their past three league games against Nottingham Forest, including a 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season.

Tottenham team news vs Nottingham Forest

Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie made their long-awaited returns from injury in midweek, a big boost for Tottenham. But the north London club do still have a lot of injury issues.

Ben Davies and Mohammed Kudus are not expected back until after the international break, though the actual dates of their returns remain unknown. Tottenham will hope to have Joao Palhinha and Dominic Solanke available, though.

Palhinha missed the past two matches after a head injury, while Solanke had a hip problem. Neither may be risked from the start, especially as we’re heading into an international break.

So Richarlison may return to lead the line after his midweek suspension, with Archie Gray and Pape Sarr the midfield duo. Bergvall is another to surely start from the bench, with Tottenham managing his minutes ahead of a crucial end-of-season run. Especially with Bergvall hoping to feature for Sweden in their World Cup play-offs.

Defensively, Tottenham may go with their first-choice back five. Guglielmo Vicario should continue in goal with Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence in defence. Porro did start further forward against Atletico Madrid, but should drop deeper. Ben Davies remains injured, while Udogie is unlikely to start.

Mathys Tel could move over to the right wing, given Tottenham’s lack of options. Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani should complete the attacking line.

Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are Tottenham’s other injury absentees.

Have Tottenham turned the corner?

Tottenham may have exited the Champions League in midweek. But there is reason for optimism. Not only was it their first win under Tudor, but it was a competent performance.

It was the first time under Tudor that Tottenham have outperformed their opponents on Expected Goals. Spurs posted 2.39 xG while restricting Atletico Madrid to just 1.02. Those are also both Tottenham’s best xG performance under Tudor, and their least-faced during his time.

That has been a big problem for Tottenham across the season. Tottenham have only outperformed their opponents on xG in nine of their 30 games in the Premier League. Things have been better in the Champions League, with Tottenham “winning” on xG in six of their 10 games. So there is a chance this could be a false dawn. Only time will tell.
