Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City face off in the Premier League on Sunday at 4:30pm, with Robert Jones set to referee.
Jones is one of the more-used referees in the Premier League this season, with this being his 14th game in the competition. This will be Jones’ third Man City game of the season and his second in charge of Tottenham.
Tottenham sit 14th in the league, winless in five. Man City are second, four points behind the league leaders.

Robert Jones’ Tottenham record
Jones has refereed Tottenham 12 times so far, and the north London club have lost half of those matches. They’ve also won four, but Tottenham fans won’t be happy to see Jones. The referee has awarded one penalty to Tottenham but three against them. One of Tottenham’s four wins under Jones, however, was a 2-1 win over Man City in the Carabao Cup last season.

What happened when Robert Jones last refereed Tottenham?
Jones was the man in the middle for Tottenham’s 2-0 home win over Brentford earlier this season. It was a pretty eventful game with seven yellow cards shown, three to Tottenham players. One of the yellow cards went to Cristian Romero for a strong tackle from behind on Igor Thiago. The decision was checked by VAR and a yellow deemed sufficient, but it did feel like it crossed the threshold for a red.

Robert Jones’ Man City record
This will be Jones’ 14th Man City match, and they have a very good record with him in the middle. The Citizens have won 11 of their 13 games with Jones as the referee so far. They’ve drawn one and lost one of the other two — though the defeat did come against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Jones has also sent off two Man City players, but he has also given them five penalties, with none against the Citizens.

What happened when Robert Jones last refereed Man City?
There was a bit of controversy when Man City beat Nottingham Forest just after Christmas. Rayan Cherki scored the late winner, but Forest fans wanted it disallowed for a foul. Jones was not interested, allowing the goal, with VAR agreeing. Jones showed four yellow cards in total, with three for Man City including one to Pep Guardiola.
What should we expect from Robert Jones?
Jones isn’t too harsh in the Premier League. He averages 3.7 cards per game, which is about middle of the table for Premier League referees. He also averages 5.3 fouls per card. Jones is yet to show a red card and has only awarded two penalties. So we may see a game allowed to breathe.
