Chelsea vs Wolves referee: Andrew Kitchen’s history with both clubs

Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers face off in the Premier League on Saturday at 8pm, with Andrew Kitchen the man in the middle.

This will be just Kitchen’s second Premier League game of the season, having previously overseen Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Burnley. In fact, he has only refereed three Premier League games during his career, making his debut last season.

Chelsea will be looking to build on their win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, while also bouncing back from a disappointing Champions League draw against Qarabag.

Wolves are starting life after Vitor Pereira, still searching for their first league win of the season.

Andrew Kitchen’s Chelsea record

Andrew Kitchen has taken charge of one Chelsea game during his career. It came in the FA Cup third round last season. Morecambe were the opponents at Stamford Bridge, with Kitchen awrding Chelsea a penalty in their 5-0 win. Christopher Nkunku did miss that penalty, however. There were no yellow cards awarded to either side.

Andrew Kitchen’s Wolves record

This will be Kitchen’s first Wolves game as a referee, given how recently he was promoted to top-flight football. But he has been the fourth official in one of their previous matches, a 2-0 win over Manchester United last season.

What should we expect from Andrew Kitchen?

Kitchen was quite quick to blow his whistle in his only other Premier League game this season, awarding 24 fouls. That’s nowhere near the most in a single game this season, but it’s still quite a lot. So the game could have a few disruptions.
