Elversberg host Mainz 05 at the URSAPHARM-Arena on Friday 30 October, with kick-off at 7.30pm (UK time) in a Bundesliga clash that pits a lively promoted side against the only team in the division with a perfect away record.
Both go into the match on 10 points apiece, separated only by goal difference, so there is plenty riding on the Friday night opener. Mainz will travel with confidence after winning all three games on the road, while Elversberg have made their own ground a tricky place to visit.
Premium Tips
Anthony Eadson has gone through the Bundesliga card and landed on two selections for Elversberg vs Mainz 05.
| Premium Tip | Odds | Why we’re backing it |
|---|---|---|
| Over 9.5 total corners | 10/13 (10bet) | The numbers point to a busy evening at the corner flags. Elversberg’s league games have averaged 11.4 corners, largely because they concede 7.4 a game, and Mainz’s have averaged 9.4, with the visitors winning five a game themselves. Elversberg have scored in every home game and push numbers forward at the URSAPHARM-Arena, while Mainz have been direct and productive on the road, winning all three away matches. Pressure at both ends should keep the count ticking over, and 10/13 with 10bet is a sensible starting point for the card. |
| Half-time/full-time: Mainz 05/Mainz 05 | 5/2 (Sky Bet) | Mainz 05 have been quick out of the blocks on their travels. They led at half-time in all three away games, going in 2-0 up at Hamburger SV, 2-1 up at Borussia Monchengladbach and 1-0 up at Schalke 04, and they went on to win every one of them. Elversberg have conceded seven goals in three home games, so the openings should be there for a side that has scored 10 away from home. If the visitors repeat that pattern, half-time/full-time Mainz 05 at 5/2 with Sky Bet pays out well. |

How Elversberg go into the game
Elversberg have made a respectable start to life back in the top flight, and they sit eighth on 10 points from their opening seven matches. Three wins, a draw and three defeats is a decent haul for a promoted side, and home form has been the backbone of it, with two wins from three at the URSAPHARM-Arena and eight goals scored in front of their own fans.
On the road it has been tougher. Elversberg have taken just one win from four away trips and were beaten 4-0 at RB Leipzig last time out, a chastening afternoon that exposed the gap in class at the top end. The flip side is that they have found the net in every home game so far, and that attacking threat gives them a puncher’s chance even against in-form visitors.
How Mainz 05 go into the game
Mainz 05 arrive as one of the division’s great riddles. They have won all three of their away matches this season, scoring 10 and conceding just three on their travels, yet they have failed to win any of their four games at home. For a fixture on the road, that away record reads very nicely indeed.
The caveat is that Mainz remain a leaky outfit overall, shipping 13 goals in seven games, and they were beaten 3-2 at home by Werder Bremen last time out. Even so, three clean sheets on the board hint at a defence that can tighten up when it needs to, and the away form makes them deserved favourites at the URSAPHARM-Arena.

Elversberg vs Mainz 05 head-to-head
These clubs have never met in a league fixture, as Elversberg have only just reached the Bundesliga. Their two previous meetings both came in the DFB-Pokal, and Mainz won both, including a 1-0 win at Elversberg in August 2023.

Elversberg vs Mainz 05 score prediction
There is enough in the visitors’ away form to trust them here, even against a promoted side who are a handful at home. Elversberg should carry a threat in front of their own supporters, but Mainz have the greater quality and a road record that stands up to scrutiny. Expect goals at both ends, with the visitors edging a tight one. Score prediction: Elversberg 1-2 Mainz 05.
