Next Liverpool manager odds: Xabi Alonso leads betting market

With the shock news that Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, Xabi Alonso has been made the heavy favourite to replace the German at Anfield.
Klopp, who announced his decision to leave the club in a video released this morning, has been in charge since 2015 and has enjoyed huge success at the club, lifting the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
The Reds are currently top of the Premier League, sitting just ahead of Man City in the race for the title. Klopp’s side have also reached the knockout stages of the Europa League, the only trophy the 56 year old hasn’t won in his time at Liverpool, as well as reaching the fourth round of the FA Cup and the EFL Cup Final, where they will take on Chelsea.

Alonso, who spent five years as a player at Anfield, is currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, leading them to the top of the Bundesliga table without tasting defeat yet this season.
Brighton boss, Roberto De Zerbi also features heavily in the betting market and could be a key figure over the next few months as the Liverpool board identify the right man to replace Klopp.
Others who find their name in the frame include Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone and current Liverpool assistant manager, Pep Lijnders.
