Newcastle vs Everton prediction, odds, tips & team news

Newcastle host Everton on the final 2024-25 Premier League weekend on Sunday 25th May at 4pm (UK time). The Magpies are looking to the qualify for the Champions League, while the Toffees are guaranteed to finish 13th. Find our match preview and best bets below.

Over 16.5 Newcastle Team Shots (21/20 with bet365)

In an ideal world, Newcastle United come out with intensity, racing to a 3-0 lead within the opening 15 minutes, effectively sealing their return to the UEFA Champions League with ease. However, a more grounded expectation sees a tougher contest. Everton, buoyed by recent form and pride, are unlikely to allow Eddie Howe’s side an easy path.

That said, Newcastle have been formidable at St. James’ Park, winning their last six Premier League matches there. Notably, in victories over Brentford (2-1) and Ipswich Town (3-0), they significantly surpassed the 16.5 team shots line, registering 21 and 25 efforts respectively.

Over 10.5 Corners (6/5 with Paddy Power)

With their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League potentially on the line, Newcastle United must approach their next fixture with a win-at-all-costs mentality. That necessity should translate into an assertive, attack-minded performance.

Such sustained offensive pressure typically leads to a healthy number of corners—and the stats back that up. Newcastle average close to six corners per game at home, and their most recent outing, a loss to Arsenal on Sunday, saw a total of 17 corners awarded.

Given their likely dominance in play and urgent need for a result, another high corner count seems a logical expectation.

How both teams go into Newcastle vs Everton

The return of Champions League football to St. James’ Park seems to be on the cards after Newcastle have tasted only two losses from their last 11 matches (eight wins and one draw) heading into the final round of Premier League fixtures. European football was secured after the club ended its long wait for a major piece of domestic silverware when they defeated holders Liverpool in the League Cup final.

Eddie Howe’s men are firmly in the battle for a top-five spot, which guarantees a place in next season’s Champions League; they are currently in fourth place, but the gap to seventh-place Nottingham Forest is just one point.

David Moyes fulfilled his remit of staving off relegation after being installed as Everton boss for the second time earlier this year. A nine-game unbeaten run, in which they yielded four wins, proved to be enough, and recently the Toffees ended a three-match winless streak with success at Fulham, meaning the highest they can finish is 13th place, which they currently occupy.

Newcastle team news

Lewis Hall and Matt Targett are ruled out for the Magpies, while Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton, both recovering from knee injuries, could return.

Everton team news

Orel Mangala is a long-term absentee after sustaining a knee injury, while James Tarkowski (thigh) and Jesper Lindstrom (groin) will not feature again this season. Jake O’Brien is currently being assessed and could be available.

Newcastle vs Everton head-to-head

Newcastle will be looking to end a three-game winless run (one loss and two draws) against Everton. Before that, it was five wins from six Premier League matches for the Magpies (one loss).
