Best Bets & Predictions
| Our Prediction | Odds & Bookmaker | Confidence | Why We’re Backing It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 2.5 goals | 13/10 @ AK Bets (43.5%) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Liverpool’s home matches have been far less open than their reputation suggests, with just 16 goals scored across their 11 league games at Anfield and more than half of those fixtures finishing under 2.5 goals. Four of their last five at home have followed that same low-scoring pattern, hinting at a more controlled and cautious environment than many expect. Newcastle’s away form points in a similar direction, with 55% of their league trips going under the line, averaging only two goals per game. With four of their last five matches across all competitions staying below 2.5, and their defence recently holding the European champions to a 1-1 draw in Paris, the value lies in opposing the heavily backed overs. |
| Bruno Guimaraes Over 0.5 shots on target | 6/4 @ BetMGM (40.0%) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Bruno Guimaraes should return to the starting line-up on Saturday after being an unused substitute in Paris on Wednesday. The midfielder is Newcastle’s top scorer in the Premier League with eight goals in total. When it comes to hitting the target he has done so in all of his last four away matches with figures of 2,1,2,1. |

How both teams go into Liverpool vs Newcastle
Liverpool’s habit of scoring late winners earlier in the season has been replaced by a growing vulnerability at the death, highlighted by last weekend’s painful 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth. After recovering from two goals down, the Reds were undone by a stoppage-time winner, marking the third time this season they have conceded a goal after the 90th minute in the Premier League.
That loss ended a long unbeaten run and left Liverpool without a league win in five matches, dropping them to sixth in the table. There was welcome relief in midweek, though, as they thrashed Qarabag 6-0 to book a place in the Champions League last 16 and extend their unbeaten Anfield run across all competitions.

Newcastle’s strong home form deserted them against Aston Villa, who took advantage of the Magpies’ struggles without Bruno Guimaraes to extend their miserable run in his absence. Eddie Howe’s side have now failed to win nine Premier League matches when the midfielder has not started, with goals from Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins sealing defeat at St James’ Park.
That loss leaves Newcastle winless and scoreless in their last two league games and down in ninth place, five points off the top four. There was a boost in Europe in midweek as they drew 1-1 away to Paris Saint-Germain to reach the knockout playoffs, but league form remains a concern, especially away from home, where victories have been scarce.
Liverpool team news
Conor Bradley, Alexander Isak, Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez are all out for the hosts.
Newcastle team news
Fabian Schar, Valentino Livramento and Joelinton are all on the treatment table.
Season Form & Standings
2025/26 season to date: Liverpool sit sixth, three points clear of Newcastle in ninth. Both teams have identical goal differences and are separated by just one win, underlining the competitive nature of this season’s race for Europe.
| Team | Pos | P | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | Pts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Liverpool | 6 | 23 | 10 | 6 | 7 | 35 | 32 | +3 | 36 |
| Newcastle | 9 | 23 | 9 | 6 | 8 | 32 | 29 | +3 | 33 |
Head-to-Head: Last 6 Meetings
Liverpool have held a dominant upper hand in this fixture, winning four of the last six meetings, with Newcastle’s last win coming over 18 matches ago. Matches have regularly produced goals at both ends, including a 3-2 thriller earlier this season.
| Date | Score | Competition |
|---|---|---|
| 25/08/25 | Newcastle 2-3 Liverpool | Premier League |
| 26/02/25 | Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle | Premier League |
| 04/12/24 | Newcastle 3-3 Liverpool | Premier League |
| 01/01/24 | Liverpool 4-2 Newcastle | Premier League |
| 27/08/23 | Newcastle 1-2 Liverpool | Premier League |
Conclusion: Who Will Prevail?
Liverpool’s home record and attacking intent set them up as clear favourites, especially given their recent dominance of this fixture. However, Newcastle have proved how defensively strong they can be after holding PSG to a 1-1 draw. History my point to a high scoring affair but we think Under 2.5 goals looks the best bet here at 13/10.
