Crystal Palace vs Wolves: predictions, stats, tips & odds

Wolves may be bottom of the table, but as their weekend draw with title-chasing Arsenal showed, they’re much more difficult to beat under Rob Edwards and they’ll be looking to upset a Crystal Palace outfit that have been floundering lately. This Premier League clash will take place at Selhurst Park at 2pm on Sunday.

Wolves or draw double chance@ 13/10 @ BOYLE Sports
(43.5%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Wolves have been much harder to beat in recent weeks, losing just three of their last 10 and will take confidence from their midweek draw with table-topping Arsenal. Given that Palace have won just one of their last 11 league games, there appears to be value in backing the visitors to get at least a point here.
Andre to be booked@ 2/1 with BOYLE Sports
(33.3%)
⭐⭐⭐Three Wolves players have been carded eight times this season, including Brazilian Andre. The 24 year old had been booked in five consecutive Premier League games prior to the midweek draw with Arsenal.

Crystal Palace vs Wolves odds

How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Wolves

Crystal Palace have perhaps understandably struggled for form of late. The Eagles have lost captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City in January and learned that boss Oliver Glasner is set to leave the club in the summer. With their FA Cup defence ending in a shambolic defeat to sixth-tier Macclesfield FC, it comes as little shock that confidence is low and league results are suffering as a result at Selhurst Park.

The recent 0-1 away win over rivals Brighton & Hove Albion was the Eagles only victory in their last 11 league games and they were held to a 1-1 draw in the UEFA Conference League in midweek too by Bosnian outfit Zrinjski Mostar. On paper, a home fixture against bottom of the table Wolves feels like a perfect opportunity to start a run of improved form – but this Wolves side are not quite as easy pickings as the table may suggest.

Although their hopes of remaining in the Premier League are basically nil, Wolves have been playing with some real pride recently. On Wednesday, they put a severe dent in table-topping Arsenal’s title hopes with an unexpected comeback victory and they’ve held the likes of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Everton to draws of late too.

Boss Rob Edwards has clearly started planning to mould his team for an immediate return from the Championship next season and has started blooding some youngsters who are bringing a fresh, no fear approach to the first team. The underlying numbers have always suggested that Wolves’ lack of points doesn’t tell the full picture and now they’re looking to prove that by ending the season on a high.

Crystal Palace team news

Cheick Doucoure, Edddie Nketiah, Jefferson Lerma and Jean-Philippe Mateta all remain long-term absentees for Crystal Palace.

Wolves team news

Hee-Chan Hwang continues to miss out for Wolves, but Toti Gomes and Angel Gomes could both be in line for a return this weekend.

Palace have dominated this fixture lately, winning four of the last five. The last clash resulted in a 2-0 win for Palace at Molineux earlier this season.

Conclusion

Wolves look doomed. One win all season, 1.85 goals conceded per game, and a negative xG gap that’s off the charts. However, they have been much more difficult to break down of late and Palace have struggled desperately for wins – in any competition. Expect quite a few bookings here, particularly among the Wolves contingent and after a rare game without a card on Wednesday night, Andre could be one of the men among the bookings at a very reasonably priced 2/1 with BOYLE Sports.
