How both teams go into Bournemouth vs Liverpool
Bournemouth’s latest outing ended in frustration at the Amex, where a late collapse denied them a rare success. Marcus Tavernier’s spot kick had put Andoni Iraola’s side on course for only their second away win of the campaign, before a stunning stoppage time bicycle kick from Charalampos Kostoulas earned Brighton a draw.
While Bournemouth remain closer to the top four than the relegation zone on points, that offers little comfort for supporters, especially following Antoine Semenyo’s departure to Manchester City. Matters are not helped by a daunting record against Liverpool, who have beaten the Cherries 12 times in 13 Premier League meetings and scored 52 goals against them.
Liverpool may not have tasted a Premier League win since their narrow victory over Wolves at the end of 2025, but they remain well placed in the race for Champions League qualification. A frustrating 1-1 draw with Burnley last weekend, their fourth consecutive league stalemate, allowed Manchester United and Chelsea to close the gap, with several other sides now just a few points off fourth place. The run of draws is historic for the club and has increased outside noise around Arne Slot, even though their league position remains strong.
That uncertainty has been eased by a comfortable Champions League win over Marseille, which extended Liverpool’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 matches.
