Team news:
As they head into this latest Premier League match as very heavy favourites, Man City boss Guardiola could be tempted to rotate his side, especially after their midweek Champions League victory.
That was seen during that 5-0 win over Sparta as he brought youngsters Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee off the bench in the second half.
In terms of definitive absentees for the hosts, Rodri (knee) remains sidelined for the remainder of the season, whilst Oscar Bobb is still around six weeks away from returning from a leg injury according to the latest reports.
Guardiola will also likely be without key quartet Kevin De Bruyne (muscle), Jeremy Doku (muscle), Jack Grealish (muscle) and Kyle Walker (illness) for this latest home outing.
Southampton have their own availability issues to contend with as they make the long journey north looking to cause one of the biggest upsets of the campaign.
Last time out Ryan Fraser was sent off against Leicester and as a result the Scotland international will miss this match through suspension.
Elsewhere, goalkeeper Gavin Bazuna (Achilles) and forward Ross Stewart (thigh) will also be missing through injury.

It’s proven to be another fantastic start to the season for Manchester City as they beat Sparta Prague 5-0 in midweek UEFA Champions League action to extend their winning run to four matches.
The weekend prior, they overcame Wolves in dramatic fashion to win 2-1 thanks to a 95th minute winner from John Stones, much to the delight of manager Pep Guardiola.
That victory in the Midlands means that the Spaniard has now overseen a 31-match unbeaten run in the Premier League for City – their longest ever run in club history.
Next up, they welcome struggling Southampton to the Etihad Stadium and, with the hosts losing just one of their last 14 English top-flight clashes with the Saints, they seem well-placed for even more success here.
As for the visitors, they couldn’t really be in lower spirits as they travel to the North East looking to cause one of the biggest upsets of the current Premier League season.
Despite leading 2-0 last time out against fellow relegation candidates Leicester, they capitulated late on to lose 3-2 in the 98th minute to extend their winless start to this latest league campaign to eight matches.
The pressure remains on manager Russell Martin to deliver quickly and, with only Mick McCarthy in competition history picking up fewer points across their opening eight Premier League matches as a manager, he could soon be ousted from dug-out at St Mary’s.
