Man City team news vs Brentford and predicted lineup

Manchester City will be hoping to keep their Premier League title hopes alive when they host Brentford on Saturday at 5:30pm.

The Citizens suffered a big blow in their chances, dropping points against Everton on Monday.

Man City predicted lineup vs Brentford

Man City (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Nunes, Khusanov, Guehi, O’Reilly; Silva, Gonzalez; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now five points behind league leaders Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand. Their title hopes are no longer in their own hands.

Man City may welcome the visit of Brentford, who they have beaten in three of their four Premier League meetings at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City team news vs Brentford

Rodri is expected to miss the visit of Brentford this weekend. The Spanish midfielder has missed the past two league matches through injury and is yet to return to training.

Nico Gonzalez joined Bernardo Silva in the double pivot in his absence last time out and is likely to continue there. Nico O’Reilly, who has also been used to replace Rodri, is expected to continue at left-bak with Rayan Ait-Nouri remaining on the bench.

The rest of Man City’s defence is also expected to stay the same. Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol are out, though both have recently returned to training. Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov are the centre-back pairing, with Matheus Nunes at right-back.

Man City don’t have any other injury issues, so the team is likely to stay the same from the XI that started against Everton. Erling Haaland will lead the line, with Rayan Cherki in the No.10 behind him.

Jeremy Doku put in a fine display at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, including scoring a late equaliser. He’ll continue on the left of Man City’s attack, with Antoine Semenyo on the right.

Guardiola will have the likes of Phil Foden, Savinho, Omar Marmoush and Tijjani Reijnders to call on from the bench.

Can Man City win the title?

Less than a week ago, Man City looked to be in control of the title race. Although Arsenal led the table, Man City had games in hand and were fancied to storm ahead on goal difference.

But their hopes were hurt by their worst enemy this season. Themselves.

Man City have dropped 17 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, their most in a single campaign since 2008-09. To make matters worse, 12 of those points dropped have come in 2026 alone. Not team has dropped more points from winning positions in the Premier League this calendar year.

Going into their final four matches, Man City only have a 13.99% chance of winning the title per Opta’s season projections. Arsenal, on the other hand, have jumped to 86.01%.

And Arsenal do have the easier fixture list on paper. They face relegation-battling West Ham United this weekend, before taking on already-down Burnley and Crystal Palace — who will have a Uefa Conference League final just days later.

Man City, meanwhile, take on Crystal Palace after this weekend in their game in hand. They then travel to face Bournemouth, who still harbour European hopes, and Champions League-chasing Aston Villa. The only caveat there is that Villa will have played in the Europa League final days prior.
