Liverpool vs West Ham prediction, stats, tips and team news

Liverpool will continue their march to the Premier League title when they host West Ham United on Sunday, 13th April, at 2pm (UK time).

Liverpool will be hoping to pick up another three points and take another step closer to the title whilst West Ham will be looking for the three points they need to all but assure them of safety from relegation.

Over 4.5 home goals (8/1 with Bet365)

Liverpool have scored five times in three of their last four meetings with West Ham across all competitions, netting twice in the other. Liverpool haven’t been firing on all cylinders recently but have been buoyed by recent positive contract news for both Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk and that could be the boost the Reds need to put in a fine home performance. Unfortunately, for West Ham this fixture might come at a bad time and the Hammers could be put to the sword as Liverpool continue their stroll towards the Premier League title.

Mohamed Salah anytime goalscorer (1/1 with Bet365)

Mohamed Salah has scored in four of the last five meetings between these sides, taking his tally to 13 goals in 17 career appearances against West Ham. Only against Tottenham (15) and Manchester United (16) has he scored more. The Egyptian has now signed a new contract with Liverpool and that could act as a catalyst for him to put in one of his famous virtuoso performances against a side he simply loves scoring against.

How both teams go into Liverpool vs West Ham

Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League and lost the EFL Cup final just before the international break. However, they remain primed to win their 20th top-flight title. The Reds are 11 points clear of Arsenal at the time of writing, with just two defeats to their name from 31 matches. Even if Liverpool were to collapse from here, the Gunners have proven too inconsistent to seriously challenge this season, meaning it’s only a matter of time until the Reds seal their second title in six years, but their first in front of supporters since 1989/90.

Their last game saw them lose their second game of the season, falling to a 3-2 defeat against Fulham but that looks to be just a small bump in the road on their way to the title. Prior to that result, Liverpool hadn’t lost in the league since September in what has been a blistering season for the Reds. They’ve fallen off a bit since February but had built such a lead over their rivals that a 20th Premier League title seems inevitable.

As for West Ham, they took just one point from their final two games before the international break, meaning they remain 16th in the table. However, the Hammers are 15 points clear of the relegation zone and have nothing to worry about there, so they can try and use the final nine games to climb as high as they can and build momentum for next season.

More recently, West Ham have continued to struggle, exchanging draws and losses, with just a single win in their last five games. Whilst this hasn’t been bad enough to drag them into relegation trouble, it’ll be a worry for Graham Potter and he’ll be looking for his side to end the season on a high and hope to build momentum heading into the new campaign.

Liverpool team news

Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are unlikely to be back in time for this match. There is a lot of football to be played before this fixture, so plenty could change.

West Ham team news

As mentioned above, it’s hard to predict how team news will look for this match, though we know West Ham will be without Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio.

Liverpool vs West Ham head-to-head

Liverpool have already beaten West Ham twice this season, once in the EFL Cup and once in the Premier League, scoring five goals in each meeting.
