Ivory Coast and Norway meet in a highly anticipated Round of 32 clash at the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 6pm (UK time) on Tuesday 30th June at Dallas Stadium, Texas.
Ivory Coast created history by securing their first-ever World Cup knockout berth, sandwiching wins over Ecuador and Curacao either side of a narrow defeat to Germany.
Norway sailed through Group I as runners-up behind France, capturing the attention of the tournament with an explosive attack spearheaded by Erling Haaland. While their goalscoring form is undeniable, the six goals they have conceded across three matches will be a major area of concern as both sides battle for a place in the Round of 16.
Ivory Coast vs Norway predictions & betting tips
| Our Prediction | Odds & Bookmaker | Confidence | Why We’re Backing It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yan Diomande over 1.5 tackles | 11/10 @ 10Bet (47.6%) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The RB Leipzig winger has been an essential defensive asset during Ivory Coast’s historic run, comfortably hitting this line in all three group stage matches after racking up five tackles against Ecuador, three against Germany, and two against Curacao. While primarily an attacking threat out wide, Diomande’s high-intensity work rate and defensive tracking will be heavily relied upon to contain Norway’s explosive wide transitions. Facing a fresh and aggressive Norwegian frontline, Diomande’s tactical responsibility to press from the front and drop deep to protect his full-back makes him an excellent bet to hit his tackle target once again in Texas. |
| Erling Haaland to score a header | 11/2 @ SpreadEx (15.4%) | ⭐⭐ | Norway’s talismanic striker has been lethal in North America, racking up four goals from an impressive 2.85 xG in just two appearances, while maintaining a superb 40% goal conversion rate. With Ivory Coast set to clog the central passing lanes, Norway will be forced to shift their attacking focus wide, relying heavily on Julian Ryerson and Antonio Nusa to whip crosses into the penalty area. Given that Haaland has won 55% of his aerial duels at these finals and remains the primary target for Martin Odegaard’s world-class set-piece delivery, he is primed to exploit a cross-heavy match in Arlington. |

How both teams head into Ivory Coast vs Norway
Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast’s path through Group E was built around tactical adaptability and grinding out results under immense pressure. The Elephants sparked their historic campaign into life on matchday one, maintaining defensive solidity throughout the match. Amad Diallo then struck a dramatic 90th-minute winner to edge past Ecuador 1-0. A heartbreaking, 94th-minute winner from Deniz Undav saw them narrowly fall 2-1 to Germany in their second fixture. However, Emerse Fae’s side completely refused to let that late setback derail their mission.
They responded like a true tournament team in the group finale against Curacao. The Elephants executed a completely professional, low-possession game plan to shut down their opponents 2-0. This victory confidently sealed their spot in the Round of 32.
The real strength of this squad lies in their elite defensive metrics. Outside of that late collapse against Germany, Fae’s compact mid-block completely suffocated spaces. They allowed just 14 total shots across their other 180 minutes of football. Ivory Coast are exceptionally comfortable sitting deep and absorbing pressure. They trust their physical spine to frustrate higher-tier European opposition.
Norway
Norway sailed through Group I as runners-up behind France, capturing the tournament’s attention with their relentless and explosive forward play. Stale Solbakken’s side opened their first World Cup campaign in 28 years with a commanding 4-1 victory over Iraq. They then edged past a highly physical Senegal outfit 3-2 in a chaotic encounter. Progression to the knockout phase was already guaranteed before the final match. Therefore, Solbakken made wholesale changes against France. This resulted in a 4-1 defeat that can safely be discounted ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
The decision to heavily rotate means all of Norway’s premier attacking threats will be completely fresh. Erling Haaland has carried his blistering club form right into this tournament. The creative spark provided by the forward line means Norway can slice open any defense in rhythm. However, that attacking brilliance is currently masking some massive issues at the other end.
Solbakken’s side have struggled to keep things tight. Moving into knockout football with a leaking backline could prove fatal. A rare off-day from their firing line would leave them incredibly vulnerable.
Ivory Coast team news
Emerse Fae welcomes back Wilfried Singo to full training after the defender was forced off with an injury during the second group game against Germany. He is expected to fit right back into the defensive plans, though Odilon Kossounou and Evan Ndicka are tipped to maintain their central partnership behind a midfield anchor of Ibrahim Sangare, Seko Fofana, and Franck Kessie.
Left-back Clement Akpa was ruled out of the entire tournament before kick-off with a thigh injury, meaning Christopher Operi remains the primary cover option on that flank. Up front, Nicolas Pepe is pushing hard for a start after his decisive two-goal display against Curacao, alongside Amad Diallo and Sebastien Haller.
Norway team news
Stale Solbakken is poised to restore his absolute strongest available lineup after making 10 changes and heavily rotating his squad for the final group fixture against France. Erling Haaland and captain Martin Odegaard were both completely rested on the bench for that match and return fully fresh to spearhead the attack alongside Antonio Nusa.
Right-back Julian Ryerson has shaken off minor muscular problems and is expected to start in defence with Kristoffer Ajer and Leo Ostigard. Sander Berge and Patrick Berg return to anchor the central midfield, giving Odegaard complete licence to operate in his advanced creative role behind Haaland.

Head-to-Head
Ivory Coast and Norway have never met in a men’s international fixture.
Who will progress to the last 16?
Both nations enter Tuesday’s fixture knowing that a historic World Cup run will be cut short. One of them must go home from the heart of Texas. Norway possess the attacking blueprint and individual star power to blow this game wide open. They will be dangerous if their fully-rested forwards find an early rhythm. Meanwhile, Ivory Coast bring immense physical presence and midfield bite. They possess the low-possession discipline required to absorb elite pressure and execute a perfect tactical ambush.
We are backing Yan Diomande to record over 1.5 tackles at 11/10 with 10Bet. The Leipzig winger has hit this line in all three group matches. He registered five tackles against Ecuador, three against Germany, and two against Curacao.
We also like the value on Erling Haaland to score a header at 11/2 with SpreadEx. Ivory Coast are expected to clog central passing channels with their robust midfield spine. Therefore, Norway will be forced to shift their creative focus out wide. They must whip crosses into the penalty box to find a breakthrough.
