How both teams go into Germany vs Portugal
Germany won their Uefa Nations League quarter-final against Italy, winning the first leg 2-1 before drawing 3-3 in the second leg (5-4 aggregate win). Nagelsmann’s last loss came against Spain in the EURO 2024 quarter-final, having won five and drawn three since.
They’ve gone eight games unbeaten since that loss to Spain, including impressive wins over Bosnia, Netherlands and Hungary. They come into this game fresh and looking for their route into the Nations League final.
Portugal won their Uefa Nations League quarter-final against Denmark, losing the first leg 1-0 before turning it around with a 5-2 victory in the second leg (5-3 aggregate win). In their last six games, Portugal have lost once and drawn twice, going into this tie in slightly worse form than Germany.
Those draws came against Scotland and Croatia and will be a worry to the Portuguese National team in what they would consider matches they should be winning. Form is definitely on the side of Germany but Portugal have enough talent to come through this match with a victory.

Angelo Stiller was called up for Nagelsmann’s Germany squad, but has had to pull out with a ligament injury. FSV Mainz forward, Jonathan Burkardt has replaced him.
Portugal team news
Portugal look to be without any major injury concerns, with their only worry being Saturday’s Champions League final which will see Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Joao Neves in action.
