Euro 2024 most assists: Latest standings, predictions and players to watch in the Berlin final
Euro 2024 final is upon us and one of the most important factors between success and failure is who provides the assists.
An assist is the final pass that leads directly to a goal, and with that in mind, creating chances is just as crucial as scoring them. Euro 2024 has played host to some of the most technically gifted players in football, so the battle to be the top assist provider has been a heated one.
Check back below to see who is leading the way.
Euro 2024 most assists favourites
Before the tournament started, the obvious names dominated the list of favourites. Bruno Fernandes provided 13 assists across all competitions with Manchester United last season, while Kevin De Bruyne notched 18 assists in just 1,750 minutes for rivals Manchester City, so it was no surprise to see them as the favourites to be Euro 2024’s most creative players.
But as assists have been recorded across the tournament, favourites have naturally changed. Xavi Simons was the favourite going into the semi-finals, and he is one of two players to have provided three assists at Euro 2024 alongside Lamine Yamal.
Key matches and player form
Both De Bruyne and Fernandes ended Euro 2024 without an assist. De Bruyne created 12 chances at the tournament but did not see any of those converted to a goal by his teammates as Belgium were knocked out in the last 16. Fernandes’ blank came in one more game as Portugal made it to the quarter-finals but failed to score in their final three matches.
With Yamal still in the competition, he will dominate the odds, as Simons and Netherlands were knocked out in the semi-finals. Behind Yamal is a group of eight players, including his Spanish teammates Dani Olmo and Fabian Ruiz, hoping to inspire La Roja to glory against England.

How team strategy and formation impact assist stats
Being the set-piece taker is one of the easiest ways a player can find more assists, and Lamine Yamal has provided two of his three assists from a set play. And, of course, if your team is naturally more front-footed, that will always give you more chances to create openings for your teammates. With that in mind, Kane and Phil Foden are far more likely to run up high assists numbers for England than, say, Hakan Calhanoglu for Turkey, despite little to separate them in individual playmaking ability.
The ‘No.10’ role behind the central striker is also where players can run up high assist numbers. Although it is a role fading in European football, it makes you the direct supply line for strikers and wingers. Watch for Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham, who are operating behind their forwards in this role.

Euro 2016 – France | Aaron Ramsey, Eden Hazard | Wales/Belgium | 4 |
Euro 2012 – Poland/Ukraine | Andrey Arshavin, David Silva, Mesut Ozil | Russia/Spain/Germany | 3 |

Euro 2004 – Portugal | Karel Poborsky | Czech Republic | 4 |
No official award is given to the player with the most assists at the European Championships. However, it is still the aim of many creative players. In the last few editions of the tournament alone, there have been some world-class winners, including Eden Hazard, Mesut Ozil, David Silva and Wesley Sneijder.
Former Manchester United and Benfica Czech winger Karel Poborsky is the player with the most assists at the European Championships all time with eight, four of which came in 2004 when he finished top of the pile. Level with Poborsky is Cristiano Ronaldo on eight, followed by a clutch of players on five that would make it into any legends team: Cesc Fabregas, Bastien Schweinsteiger, Arjen Robben, Luis Figo, Eden Hazard and David Beckham.
